So when do you all think that LTE would be provided to virgin? Don't they use clearwire 4g to provide the 4g service as it is right now? So would it be sprint or clearwire that would eventually provide lte... And what about sprint's "network vision" where 3g will be no more by 2015?

Honestly, with how low the 4G WiMax is going right now, I'm not sure.

They better get moving soon, though, otherwise Boost and VM will have a LOT of unsatisfied people on their hands ;)

I live in an area where WiMax isn't right now. It doesn't really bother me, though, because I have WiFi. So does work, and starbucks, and McDonalds, and almost everywhere else in the world these days.

However, when sprint ends its 3G, I better have a good amount of 4G coverage (By then I'll have a new phone, as well. Hopefully sprint makes an Evo 3D LTE and VM gets it. I would be incredibly happy.)

I doubt unfortunately that there will be a reworked model of the evo.

I was also pretty sure that clearwire was the provider of WiMAX for VM so there could be a chance hopefully that sprints network vision won't jack us WiMAX users over so long as clearwire provides it. Virgin is a good company ita just unfortunate they chose sprint for the service instead of something like T-Mobile.

edit: if I remember correctly clearwire did have plans to bring lte but only to the populated cities

Unfortunately to say, there won't be an Evo 3D lte.

Mainly because the 3d wasn't a big hit enough to follow up on it with an lte device. Sprint and htc alike feels they will lose money making thousands of these devices.

That's why the Evo 4G received an lte version, due to how big of a hit it was and there are still some buying the og evo.

I'm one of the people that's very disappointed they won't continue the 3D version, but it is what it is.

Such a shame. Great phone. C'est la vie.

Sprint and clearwire are in a world of hurt at the moment.. Virgin mobile however is just the end result of their fragmented network relationship.

If I had to guess, there's 3 possible outcomes that we'll see by the year 2016:

1) clearwire will remember somehow "ohhh yeahhhh we are still providing to that evo virgin got herpderp" and continue wimax services (unlikely)
2) clearwire will continue with LTE deployment, taking over 4g, rendering our phones to 3g only. This unfortunately is the most likely outcome. Fortunatley sprint's network vision plan may not make this option so bad but we'll have to see.
3) Sprint will give another handmedown to virgin for the lte networks. This is undoubtedly going to happen but at the same time they will have "amnesia" about all those customers who bought the wimax only supported evo 3d and totally neglect the phone all together, possibly pulling it from virgin's lineup.

Sprint... you are a monster.
