Official EVO Rumors and Speculation thread

That sucks I don't want to order it from BB. My Sons phone is eligable for an upgrade so I want to go into the Sprint store and get an EVO and do an IMEI swap (I gave him me PRE so he's happy). I hope the BB people aren't getting their phone much before I can in the Sprint store.

Best Buy is only handling preorders beginning in May. If you want to be one of the first to get it, go through Best Buy if not just wait til the release in June. I wonder though if those of us with corporate discount accounts can preorder through our account reps.

Sure, you'll be able to order from Sprint and make the swap like you indicated. The Best Buy thing is a special promotional deal. I'm pretty sure their customers that pre-order will get their phones before anyone else does.

Another advantage of going through Best Buy is that they waive the Mail In Rebate, so you might not only get the phone earlier, but cheaper too.

Well from what I've read the preorder is in the form of a best buy gift card that you have to redeem when the phone is released.

Oh really now?

I'm just going on what I've read and my experience. Last October when the HTC Hero was released, Best Buy's preferred customers were the first one to get the Hero (one day before it was officially released) and BB's big sales come on was that they were waiving the MIR. That's why I believe the same thing will be done with the EVO, however I don't know this for a fact.

I'm pretty sure Best Buy can handle the swap as well.

That's great and all but as a "Premier" customer I feel that we should be able to pre-order from Sprint as well. I'm really starting to really not understand the whole point of being a premier customer if we don't even get the same perks as a regular best buy customer. I'm not even asking about the whole rebate thing...I'm willing to wait on that but sheesh Sprint - at least let us "premier" customers put some pre orders in!!

That's good to hear. Let's hope they do do the same this time around. (yes I know I said do-do).

One thing I'm really interested in is how they plan on charging for the oodles of services this phone is gonna have. Right now I have the Everything Data 450 plan (which runs at $69.99/month) for my Blackberry and it's a damned good plan given everything my berry does. I really hope that I don't have to end up paying a whole lot more for 4G and the mobile hotspot feature.

One would think so right?

During this slow time I was hoping someone could answer a question or two for me. Im currently a verizon customer, but after 10 long years I am going to be switching to sprint soon. Reason for this is simple, my fiance's father is a sprint corporate manager so I can take advantage of Sprint's Advantage club and pay a fraction of what Verizon was charging me. Ive been following the Supersonic/Evo for months now and when its available thats when I will make the switch.

Question is, under this Advantage Club will I have the ability to purchase the phone the very day it comes out? Or will I have to wait because I dont have a standard contract at a standard price? I tried looking it up and I think I read something talking about Advantage club members having to wait a month or two before they were allowed to purchase the Pre, but I'm not entirely sure. Appreciate any help you guys can provide me, thanks!

Yeah, that's what I'm looking for and why I wanted the big screen.

I can't imagine that you'd have to wait past the release date, but this is the EVO 4G forum. You might get a better answer in the Sprint forum. Also, there's another thread in this forum "Any Sprint Employee or Insider on Forum?" where a forum member named SprintTerp who works for Sprint, has been answering questions in that thread.

hey guys sorry i had classes all day :/ but yeah nothing very exciting last night, just a breifing on the phone. On April 16th the real info which noone really knows will be released publicly. I thought that Evo video was good too and found it interesting how they mentioned nothing about the screen or android build. Good stuff Dan, can't wait to see what this bad boy will be packing!!

I can wait for the rebate, no biggy.

If you plan to swap the phone out, BEWARE. In order to qualify for the rebate you have to have the handset on the line that is eligible for the upgrade when the rebate is processed.....like 30 days after you send it in. If I understood your plan to get the EVO on a line which is eligible for an upgrade and swap it to your line the best plan is Best Buy, not necessiarily to not have to wait for the rebate, but to be able to swap the phone immediately.

Thanks, earldriscoll. Just curious, but do you know this because you work for Best Buy?

No, I know this because I upgraded another line with the HERO then immediately swapped it to my line. Friendly rep at Sprint customer retentions suggested I do it this way in order to get the benefit of the rebate and be able to immediately swap the phone to another line. Luckily I have yet a third line which is now eligilble for upgrade.....Best Buy here I come!

Thanks! I cleared up some space in my bookmarks by deleting the sprint forum page LOL!! I keep watching this HTC promotional video. Damn what a nice phone even if it's just a render.

Addendum: There was an episode of "Modern Family" last night that featured the iPAD being released on one of the main characters' birthday. The whole plot had his family looking for an iPAD because the wife failed to wake up early enough to sit in line for it. In the end he gets one and is caressing it on the couch and says "I Love you" to the iPAD. Wife walks in and says "oh i love you too honey." That's how I will be with the EVO...caressing it and saying "I Love you" that first day I get it.

I hear you about the Sprint forums, Jackson.

Though I did not post there too often, I read about 97% of the Supersonic replies and a lot were filled with a lot of antagonism and silly back and forth arguing.

Even though I've only been following these forums for a few weeks, I can already tell these forums are so much nicer, and I really dig the atmosphere and friendly posters here!

Hahaha, I don't think I'll be too far off from you. I feel bad for my girlfriend because I'll prob end up ignoring her a good bit at least for the first 2 or 3 days I have my hands on that device.

I can already imagine myself hugging her at some point and having both my hands twiddle with the device behind her back, heh.
