(You can imagine my chagrin when I dashed back to work only to see the thread closed)

So I enter (mind you, this is the second time I've done this) and am immediately approached by the friendly 'floor guy'.

"How can I help you today?"

"Uh yeah, I was wondering what you can tell me about the Nexus One?"

"Oh, uh. Nothin'"

"Really? What about the HTC Incredible? Are you going to get either of these in any time soon?"

*PAUSE*

"Hang on... Christian!"

I turn to my left to see the store manager approaching.

"He knows what's up." he says.

"Hi, how can I help you today?"

"I'm wondering when the Nexus One is going to be available?"

"It's coming. About a week, maybe a week and a half."

"Oh really??"

"Yeah. But you won't be able to buy it here; you'll have to buy it online."

"Ok, cool. What about the HTC Incredible?"

"That's coming too."

"Oh no kidding! Do you think it will be a similar time frame? For when it comes out? A week, week and a half?"

"Yes."

"Well thank you very, very much."

OK...can we all just agree that any news from a "verizon guy" is pure speculation? They are all reading the web...and everything on the web starts in this forum...

Here is what MY verizon guy said today.....he is a personal friend for over 20 years and he owns a verizon store. I finally thought we were close enough to release to ask him about it.

He said:

I'm looking into it but nothing on the order site yet. I'll let you know what I find. I did see that the iPhone is coming this summer!!

Well we'll see how it goes...I don't think we'll see anything out of Verizon tomorrow, but Monday could be better. Like I was saying in the other post, the N1 will only be available online from Google, thats their little baby...Some stores might get a floor model to play with, but that would be the extent of it.

It was my understanding that the Incredible would be the Verizon in-store counterpart to the N1.

I don't know, this guy seemed pretty damn certain of it.

This is a quote by a user from the Verizon Wireless forums.... Don't shoot the messenger

I spent most of all day yesterday on the phone and waiting for return phone calls from Verizon. I will have to admit that they did answer all of my questions.
The 2.1 is out for the Moto Droid. It is being put out in 25,000 groups. From what I understand. He might have said 250,000, I am not sure. I would assume the older customers are going to be upgraded first.
Now for the bad news. Us Eris users. HTC told this rep that the 2.1 would be available no later than the end of April. It should be sooner, but they couldn't promise that. How it will be sent out, they are not sure yet. They are sure it will be sent out in "blocks" but nothing on how many at a time yet.
For those waiting for the Incredible. HTC is still testing it. They have till June to finish the testing and promote the phone. Verizon has not accepted the phone yet and not sure they even will take it. Depends on the results of the testing.
They have no plans even if they do accept it to offer it as an upgrade as of now. So... the Eris users are the ones that get the shaft this time if Verizon does pick up the Incredible.

I don't see how that would make sense, as reliable sources have told us that testers at *Verizon* have had the phone for awhile now.

Also, when has Verizon ever brought out a new phone and not allowed people to upgrade to it? That wouldn't make any sense, since when you upgrade you also extend your contract with them.

There's no way VZW would offer up this info. over the phone.

It's all speculation and hearsay...until sources like Engadget get it for testing and we see proof. I have been with Verizon for a long time they always do this for highly anticipated phones. They are known for extreme testing before they launch a new device, especially after being burnt by the Storm 1.

If Verizon is "testing" it this also mean HTC is "testing & tweaking" it because any changes Verizon wants made to any device it's then that the manufacturer takes the product back to rework the carriers changes.

Looking at the flip side, some of the decisions that Verizon has made in the last few months/years have been kinda out there so who knows at this point...For all we know the CEO could be up in his office doing key bumps coke and shooting from the hip as far as his business plan is concerned...

Hmmm, I'd like to hang with him. He sounds like my kind of guy!
