Unlimited 3G Data on 4G Verizon Phones for $50 on Prepaid Plan?

Would the ICS based rom you're talking about help me out? I haven't really messed around with the phone lately. I've been mainly using the phone as an alarm clock with dial up connection (until I can fix the hotspot)

It makes the HotSpot much more stable, but it may not help *you* in this case b/c of all that you have done.

An ICS Based ROM like CyanogenMod 9 would cure your ills for sure. I'm running it on a Samsung SPH-D710 (Epic4gTouchGalaxyS2) and the hotspot works great, bloatware gone, phone is super fast and the 3G was blazing...
But that leads me to a problem that it appears you have the answer to...when I first flashed this phone, I could only get talk/text/and 1x data to work...a guy I know changed some things and gave me the NAM file he used, and the 3G was incredibly fast and very stable. I've since had to reprovision my phone, looks like someone pulled my ESN out of a hat and I wasn't able to get talk or text...so after I reprovisioned and fixed this problem, I inserted the necessary keys & info to the NAM file he gave me, and back to 1x data again...have tried a hundred different things since and can't seem to get it back on 3g.

Now keep in mind, your fluctuation in speeds could be explained a different way...the stock rom on this device is Sense based, and Sense based roms show ANY data connection as 3G (except 4g of course). CM9 is a AOSP based rom and will show EVDO / 1xRTT etc if that's how your connected.

The last thing to keep in mind, is CM9 and most other custom ROMs available will not allow you to use the built in secret menus like EPST...so make sure that your phone is flashed exactly as you want it, PRL, everything before you do this, because some phones lose the ability to connect in DIAG mode after one of these roms is on it.
I have to multi-boot my phone and have a secondary Gingerbread/Stock Rom combo to temporarily use when I need to reconnect & change settings, etc.

I have been in the wireless business for over 20 years and in a quest to find true unlimited data i started a company. It works on Verizon's network $49 a mo and its unlimited 3g data. No its not a flashed non legal device like they sell on ebay. Verizon will figure out a way to stop those phones and mifi's soon. I worked for them trust me its short lived. more info coming soon.
I found a couple of phones (including some MiFi devices) on eBay claiming to have unlimited 3G date on 4G Verizon phones for $50 (from a verizon prepaid plan)
Unlimited 3G Data, Voice & Text with the lack of 4G connectivity.

I was wondering if anyone knows if this is true, and if so, how to do it.
I have an additional Droid Bionic that I would like to try this on if it is possible (on this phone or some other Android phone)
Also, if once done, can it be reverted back to it's normal state or would the phone be stuck forever?

i've been doing a lot of research as well as talking to customer service at Verizon wireless......authorized resellers......... I know one of these companies has been doing it for a long time now--a few years ago i sold a Verizon wireless smart phone--I think it was the incredible maybe--to a guy on Craigslist who called this company up and activated it on the spot. He highly recommended it and said it was mainly by word of mouth. I looked at their website then, and then last year, and recently. They used to offer GSM service but looks like they only offer Verizon service now. AND only 3G phones work. (EDIT) : I'm removing the link just because they don't want to advertise online and attract fraudulent customers. PM me if you want to know about it. I just got my phone hooked up today.

Another BIG correction: they can do GSM phones :D 4G as well :D

Really sketchy looking website--i know. But send them an e-mail and they'll email you back and give you a number to call. At one point a couple years ago I believe they even had a corporate office you could go to. I've talked to a guy a couple times and have emailed many times back and forth now. They are local to me in portland, OR.

The best phones I can activate are non-3G Verizon phones with CLEAN ESN...like Droid X, X2, incredible 2, iphone 4 and iphone 4S. The guy suggested those phones himself.. telling me that I couldn't use Sprint phones, or any 4G phones like the GSIII :( Anyway, I'm gonna go with a plan that gives me 1200 minutes, unlimited text, and 100mb data (I use wifi most of the time anyway) for $30/mo... TAX included. Anyway, apparently they market to corporate offices/companies, etc.

they also offer unlimited talk and text with more data like 4GB for $55/mo...not bad. esp. tax is included.

Anyway, I had little reason to doubt that it was legit mainly because of my experience with the guy I sold a phone to a few years ago--but now I'm fully convinced it's real. Prepaid Cell Phone Cards | Prepaid National Cell Phones offers the EXACT same thing. It's a little more convenient b/c you can make payment online instead of paypal or transfer online via Bank of A and wait 3 business days (or physically go into a branch for instant transfer).

Page Plus doesn't come out and say they offer Verizon's network, but according to Active Wireless, I will have EXACT same coverage/towers as Verizon customers.

These 2 links led me to Page plus and I realized it was the exact same thing Active Wireless was offering. Page plus doesn't seem to offer support on how to activate iphones (but active wireless will).

How to get access to Verizon's 3G network at big discounts | Mobile - CNET News

How to flash any Verizon phone to PagePlus

Hopefully I can find a way to get a rom with jelly bean on the X2 as I've heard that it's plagued with issues :(

Anyway, sorry if this is completely unrelated. the plan I'm talking about is not unlimited 3G.

My last reply was like a month ago, but here goes another...

When the hotspot was initially working, I tried messing around with a couple of the settings, got the hotspot working @ 3G speeds (with average of 2MB/s) but that was it and nothing else.

I looked into it some more afterwards, and changed some additional settings, fixed the 3G connection issue, but lost the hotspot. I'm in the process of reversing the settings, getting the hotspot working again, re-trace my steps and just go from there.
The other option I think I should explore is with a couple of other phones.
I'll check back in a while with some updates.

So Sewer Dweller Did you buy the phone off of ebay? Or did you flash it somehow?

@kylelipp
The phone was not bought, everything I have tried so far has been through experimentation of my own.

Sewer Dweller (or anyone else),

Have you tried using this method by flashing a Bionic?
Do you have links to discussion of such?

@xoneinax
The Bionic is a bit difficult to work with at the moment. I can't seem to get it to accept the changes because it's a stubborn S.O.B.. And as far as links of any such discussion... well there isn't any on my behalf. I've looked as well for anything in regards to the Bionic as I have 2 of them and so far... nothing.

As far as the rest of this process go, I believe I found where I went wrong. The only problem now is experimenting doesn't come cheap.

Well here is the the thing...

The hotspot initially worked. I would get about 2MB/s working when the hotspot worked. What I had was a phone who's internet connection only worked as a hotspot... I wasn't able to browse the web efficiently, I would get dial-up speeds 28-56k/s when browsing the web and I also had to establish an internet connection by attempting to send an MMS msg first.
I messed around with the settings AND now I have a constant dial up/dsl connection (which is still slow) but I lost the hotspot feature. I'm sure I'll get the hotspot working again. I should have just left it as is. Would have been better to keep the phone as a hotspot.

All with Verizon Wireless, not PagePlus or another provider who piggybacks on the Verizon Network.

I am using a MIFI2200 which came from one of the ebay sellers. it works fine , 500k-2meg dependent on signal strength.
way better than dial-up, cheaper than 4G verizon or satellite ( my other options)
I am trying to find the "how & why" I can get these flashed for $50 or so for now, but would like to know how to do it myself. ( targeting the novatel 4510L, it has external antenna port!)
any suggestions, redirections will be appreciated.
apologies to all if this is not exactly on topic, but this thread is encouraging to me!
thanks

Great news everyone!!!

I'm finally starting to see the white light at the end of this long tunnel.
I can't believe this process is so simple that it takes an average of 10-15 minutes tops (maybe more or less depending on several factors). It took me 6 months to figure out a quick process, because I missed a crucial step way back along the way.

To sum it up and answer my own questions...

I was wondering if anyone knows if this is true (getting unlimited 3G), and if so, how to do it.
I have an additional Droid Bionic that I would like to try this on if it is possible (on this phone or some other Android phone)
Also, if once done, can it be reverted back to it's normal state or would the phone be stuck forever?
Can you get Unlimited 3G Data on a 3G/4G phone?
The answer is YES!!!
Can the process be reversed?
The answer is YES!!!
Everything works, calls, texts, mms, web, apps,
the whole thing works as you would expect it to. Hotspot is working so is everything else. Decent 3G speeds too, no 4G... yet ...!!!

Keep in mind, this whole process involves crossing a line that most cell phone carriers do not want the average Joe to cross, yet alone anyone else.

That being said, this subject tends to be a touchy one which is why I never posted a how-to-guide like some users requested via private messaging. Most subjects in similarity to this one, on different forums (including this forum) tend to get taken down due to the nature of this process. There's a reason why there's not much help in here for someone to duplicate what's been done, and there's a reason why most can't find similar subjects elsewhere.

Take a look at this post on this link...
http://androidforums.com/lounge/681...ion-illegal-after-01-25-13-a.html#post5473398

Having said all that, my "main" research is coming to an end soon, although I have more things to look in to, I don't think I will be done experimenting yet. I have a lot more things to test, a lot of things to try. There is no gain of any kind whatsoever, that includes any financial gain like the type you see everywhere.

I had a million questions with not much help, not a lot of places where I could look for help, not a lot of people I could ask for help due to the fact that most people are busy trying to rip off the average Joe on eBay, Craigslist and everywhere else with this type of information, this was one of the reasons I decided to take this challenge upon myself. Everything has been, and will continue to be for knowledge because there's no educational purpose here. There's nothing to learn. So you might say, why bother then? It's simple, it was a challenge that I took upon myself, I came, I saw, I conquered. In other words, because I could, I can, I did.

Yes, that's how I'm doing it. There are a few phone flashing companies that can do this for you. I have unlimited 3g data, calls, and text. Google nav works, google wallet works, google play works, MMS works. Just need to find the people or company that can do this programming.

You're looking for love in all the wrong places...

Thanks, now i see what you're saying.
I'm definitely not going to try it, I'm addicted to my 4G unlimited plan.
However, that does seem interesting, to say the least.

It's been a while since I started this post, I quoted you because I'm sure you know by now (or at least should know) that Verizon is ending Unlimited Data for grandfathered plans. I'm not exactly sure when it will happen as I haven't found an exact date on when this tragic event will happen.

Do you have a source for that Sewer Dweller? I know of people on grandfathered features that are now years old and long gone from common knowledge. I'd say at this point that as long as you play by Verizon's rules - no subsidized phone upgrades, you're going to be OK for quite some time. I would expect to see soft caps with throttling and/or a limit on the specific types of devices long before the feature is retired completely.

Actually, there's a couple of sources
But I will list only one for now...

At an investor conference, an exec says the carrier is killing the plan for "grandfathered" customers and will force existing and new customers to sign up for a tiered "data share" plan on its 4G LTE network.

I was going to put up a quote from the article itself but that's the "main" quote itself that sums it all up.

Sorry folks, the ride was good while it lasted. Regardless if you play by the rules, the rules can be changed and you either accept them, or move on somewhere else where you don't have to.
Now there isn't a specific date, but it's inevitable, all good things must come to an end.

For the record, that article was published in May of last year, shortly before Verizon made the changes to bring us to the situation we have now: anyone signing a new contract (whether upgrade or new customer) is forced to use tiered data. That's not news, although at the time it was a correct prediction, which is not always the norm.

That said, I still don't see any reason to panic that unlimited data is going to be pulled out from under all of us in the immediate future. It will happen eventually, but for PR reasons, I think Verizon is much more likely to use squeeze tactics (building on taking away the subsidized upgrade path), than just yanking the rug.

I re-posted the link. Also, it that article might be half a year old, but it's not to be taken for granted. Like I said, there isn't a specific date, but it's inevitable, it will come to an end. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow... but someday... and when you least expect it, whaam!!! You'll be switching over to another carrier until they screw you over as well.

" the company was always careful to say that it could change this policy in the future. "

Meaning it's in the works for a reason, even if it's been in the works for a while now. AT&T made the first move, Verizon followed afterwards, it's a matter of time before Sprint and the rest follow.
F.Y.I. regardless if you do happen to currently have unlimited data, if you go over a certain amount, Verizon will send you a letter in the mail to see what's the problem, throttle your speed and/or cancel your service.
