How's the battery life?

Lee, that does sound amazing , it is strange though that when watching handset reviews of the GN2 I keep a close eye on the battery indicator and it usually goes down by a few % points in a 15 min video with the screen on and apps being opened closed . Perhaps there are cuts in the video but 3% sounds ridiculous ...thats 30 hours of screen on time.

Obviously until I see the handset first hand, I can't comment any further on this. But handset's are now equipped with increasingly long-lasting battery life and so fingers crossed the Note 2 come back up these impressive claims.

It'll certainly be interesting to see how 4G impacts battery life on handsets though...

This is one of the things that I truly look forward to testing out. I'm big on multi-tasking and even though I've been fine with Android's multi-tasking capabilities, the Note 2 provides exactly what I've wanted for such a long time.

I'd have been happy if the Note 2 could survive 8 hours of consistant multi-tasking (with screen going on and off), but to achieve the amount of time that people have been saying it lasts?...That's amazing (especially considering the 5.5 inch screen).

Going from the EVO to the Photon was already so much better, as far as battery life, but I think this might be the first time that I'm not trying to find ways to conserve battery life (as much). I'm probably going to even attempt keeping GPS on all the time (even if I don't need it on all the time). Now, I can feel completely safe w/ the GPS on, in the event I lose the device and actually use the different tracking programs that I got for free (on sale).

I was kind of surprised when I woke up this morning and saw that my phone's battery has dropped from 41% down to 25% just by having it in sleep mode for 8-9hours! is this normal? If so, are all my apps running in the background and how can I improve the battery life.

This beast of a phone is my first android phone since I switched from iPhone 3gs so I have no experience with android devices.

That sounds normal based on other devices I've used, but I can't say that's how it should be on the g-note2

That doesn't sound normal to me at all. I don't remember what my droid x got in sleep mode, but my galaxy nexus generally only loses about 10-15% overnight when not charging, and I consider that phone to have pretty bad battery life.

Perhaps there is an app that is preventing it from entering sleep mode. There is an app called cpu spy that will tell you if and how long your phone is entering sleep mode.

Depends on the reliability of service in a persons area also. A phone can be in "sleep mode," but if the signal is not good, then the phone will continue to drain searching for service. I know many people that put their phone in airplane mode, when they go to sleep.

For me, I've had a 10-15% drain (the above mentioned drain was only 16%) for both my EVO and Photon, so it really doesn't sound out of the ordinary. But, I will preface that by saying that, I do have emails pushing directly to my phone (constantly) and data turned on all the time, as well as other apps that run in the background.

.

Typically the battery on my Note 1 changes from 100% to 95% over 9 hrs at night with the screen off but with WiFi, GPS and the phone running as normal. That said, I have disabled 10 of the Samsung bloatware apps that I will never ever use! If you are interested in doing the same have a look at Phredog's thread at

Deplorable! I will never again in life buy another Seido extended battery. I bought one for my Evo which Seido swore was an extended battery and I got no better time with it than the standard battery that came with the phone.

I feel like I'd been duped.

Always check for mh when buying an extended battery, if it's below 3000mh waste of money ;)

Ha, you're right, I should have read that a bit more closely :p
Does seem pretty high, but not completely out of reason, especially if that person is in a poor signal area; btw, leaving wi-fi on (if you have a decent connection) can actually help with that to an extent as well.

Yes. Very good point to make. I always forget to add in the "newb" tidbits that could make a world of difference for their experience with Android.

I dont have one yet.. but have an OG EVO... 8hrs at night.. depending on what it is doing at night... it can loss 2% to 10%.

you might want to try.. putting it in airplane mode at night... for 3 nights..
this will confirm when there are NO background activities... see what it has in the morning.

The battery life for me has been great. I was using my phone for about 4 or 5 hours more or less straight yesterday, and when I left, my battery was still over 65%.

With my Nexus S 4G, I made sure to carry around an extra battery because I didn't want it to die and be stuck without a phone, but with this phone, I'm not sure I'll need to worry about until the battery degrades, which will be a while.

The only thing that might change my mind about that is how my usage will change between the Nexus S 4G and this phone. Previously I would use an iPod Touch a lot for work, while my phone would be sitting in Airplane mode on my desk. I'm planning on ditching the iPod Touch all together and using this phone as an all-in-one device. I've yet to test that out at work, but considering my phone will still be in Airplane mode (no signal at work, thanks Sprint. :p) and lasts as long as it does without being in Airplane mode, I'm not sure it will be a problem.

Could some of the USA owners please say what they had for phone and battery life before and battery life of note 2.

PLEASE
Thank YOU

With my S2 I was not able to make it thru an entire day w/Out having to place the phone on a charger. For that reason alone I have chargers strategically placed all over the house.
The Note 2 goes on the charger each night before I go to bed. I'm doing everything on it so the usage varies from moderate to heavy. From about 8am-2 or 3 am it's around 60% left. I think that's phenomenal.
