T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S3 questions

I've been browsing the forums and haven't really found a recent thread to answer them... I got the S3 about 2 days ago, switching from the MyTouch 4G Slide... here are some complications I've had so far..

Most annoyingly, my notification volume. Using the rocker only changes the ringer volume. Yes, I know you can hit the cog to set the rest of them, too.. but what a pain. Is there a way to make it so the rocker changes the volume of all notifications (ringer, text and email notifications etc) to the same level? Obviously, if I want my ringer volume down saaaay.. when I'm at work.. wouldn't I also want the text notification to be lowered, too?

EDIT: I found an app that links the two together
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...ar.quicksettings&feature=search_result#?t=W10.

On a related note, I've noticed that regardless of what the notification volume is set to.. its LOUD. I have it on the lowest volume setting without it being on vibrate or silent and its still ridiculously loud. Maybe its the sounds I have chosen? I imported my notification sounds from my old phone (change is hard) Could this be the problem?

EDIT: Still seems to be louder than I'd like it to be..

Just a general gripe, the swype-ish-like feature for text input is AWFUL. My old phone was accurate more often than not but this one is terrible. I don't really like using it. Is there a replacement program I might be able to use to make it a little better?

If there are already answers to my questions (and I'm sure there are and I just can't find them) please point me in the right direction..

thanks!

Trying using one of the sounds supplied to see if that makes a difference.
Have you tried just reducing the notification sound from settings (settings, sound, volume, notifications)

Keyboard, Pick from the market, there are several great keyboards try a few out until you find the one you like
This one is free and has pretty good swipe function

I'm going to try and use one of the supplied sounds.. as far as linking them together to control through the rocker, I believe I have found an app that works.

hopefully a new keyboard helps!

thanks :)

I'm glad you found an App, I was just looking and found this one too for volume. https://play.google.com/store/apps/...=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5jYi52b2x1bWVQbHVzIl0.

I use go launcher ex, so I can add shortcuts for volume to my homescreen, so It took me a minute to see if touchwiz does that, but it doesn't.

As far as the sounds go, even using the system sounds its loud. I guess its something I'll have to deal with?

I also found a MUCH better keyboard app.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cootek.smartinputv5&feature=search_result#?t=W10.

this works really well.. the only problem I have with it at the moment is inputing a new word into the dictionary. I'm used to tapping out the word, pressing space and having it ask me to add the word.. when you do that, it automatically inputs a known word. Its not a big deal.. just a personal preference, I guess.. otherwise a great program.
