downloading OTA now

Can someone on 246 go to settings, more, mobile networks, network mode and tell me what options are there?

Does this help Lars?

Its not the soak, did you read the link. Its the full ota update.
The only thing I have seen is people who have been saying for days that the emails sent about the soak test were that they were supposed to have started yesterday. There were also some articles on Android sites that also said that the 19th was the day soak testing was to begin with full OTA rollout next week.

However, back for 905, the day that patch came out, many who had not signed up for the soak test were recieving it too. Just trying to figure out if this is a full on release or something similar to 905's soak.

Anyone in the soak really shouldn't be talking about it here:D

Yeah, but remember 905, people who didn't sign up for the soak got pushed the 905 update during the soak portion and did indeed talk about it and could freely talk about it because they had not signed an NDA. I'm just curious if people think the same is going on now, that this is the soak test period and some people are getting it who didn't sign up for the soak and full release is next week, or if this is indeed the full OTA release.

With 5.9.905 during the soak test they simultaneously pushed it to some people who had not signed up for the soak test.

As a result there was a confusion because some people thought the OTA had started.

If you are on 5.9.905 you should be getting the OTA pushed to you when the distribution starts. This usually happens after the soak test is approved.

im confused, Verizon has said the ota ics update is going out starting the 18th. Why does it sound like people, just like above sound like there trying to say its not the update but the soak test.

Your guess is as good as mine.

Having gone through a bunch of these in the past I think it will be TOTALLY obvious when the OTA starts.

As for what "Verizon has said" I have no idea what that is. There are many departments in Verizon making public comments and they are not always coordinated.

Through the link at the top of the posts Verizon said the ota update started on the 18th. Dont know what more we need to confirm that the update some are getting is the ics update and not the soak test.

it's kind of weird but I've been on .232 for so long that .905 seems refreshing to me. as long as I have no data drops I don't mind being back on an old ROM.

Exactly the same here, I've been on 229, 230 and 232 for about four months now. After hearing about a possible official OTA I flashed 905 stock and it is really nice having a clean, non-rooted gingerbread phone for a little while. The best part is, I am fairly certain the ICS OTA is coming soon :)

I haven't seen Verizon say anything. What I have seen is people here last week say that they got emails about the soak test starting on Friday, with some thinking it meant last Friday but turned out was the 19th, and then other articles such as ....

Motorola Droid Bionic ICS Soak Test Planned for October 19

What link? I have read through the entire thread and not seen one link to any official Verizon site saying that the OTA would start on the 18th.

As a matter of fact, on this page,DROID Smartphones - Android Ice Cream Sandwich
an official Verizon page, it says...

Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich, operating system will begin being pushed to customers in phases starting Oct. 19 for DROID BIONIC by Motorola devices.

Says nothing about the 18th whatsoever. It also doesn't make clear if the ones to get it are soakers are if some who didn't sign up for the soak test did get it.

So you can be confused, but the facts are people did say they got emails about soak test beginning on the 19th, Verizon says it would begin in PHASES on the 19th and I am curious if this 246 is like the 905 soak test where people who didn't sign up for the soak are getting the update. I am not asking anyone to break any NDA because if they didn't sign up for a soak test or agree to an NDA, they can't be held to it.

Sorry 19th, not 18th but isnt that confirmation enough?

No because it says PHASES. For all we know the soak test is phase one. We do know soak test emails went out last week.

Not sure why my asking if anyone who didn't sign up for the soak test has recieved it yet is any big deal. When 905 went to soak, quite a few who didn't sign up for a soak test received it and I am merely curious if it's the same this time around.

Dont get me wrong I was seriously asking. to me, it dosnt make sense for Verizon to announce the update is happening but instead still be testing(which is what the soak test is). I hope I didnt offend I was asking as this is my first real update.

There is some conflict over what a soak test is. Some say it's a test of the OS, but many say it's merely to test the delivery of the OS. Considering that a soak test doesn't really last long enough to get any real feedback on an OS build, my personal opinion is the test is for the latter.

Also when 905 happened and quite a few got it during the soak period who had not signed up for the soak test there was talk that Motorola may end soak tests altogether. Since soak test emails went out, that obviously did not end with this update, but was equally curious if people who had not signed up for the soak had indeed recieved 246, which they can answer since if they didn't sign up for it they would not be held to an NDA.
