Okay so I thought that i would be a good boy today and start my laundry so i can get a game.

I left my eris in my jeans and started the washer and i need to know if this is covered by my insurance from asurion please someone please answer asap

YES, it is covered by Asurion. You just need to call them, tell them what happened, and pay $50 for your deductible. You will get your phone on Monday or Tues.

The deductible on the Eris is $90.

It is definitely covered, though. Accidental water damage is covered by Assurion's policy. (Also note that they will only allow two incidents per 12 month period, so you do want to be careful with that replacement.)

I forgot that it went up. That is crazy! So how much is insurance on a smartphone per month now?

I think it's something like $15 a month, although I can't remember exactly. I weighed the monthly premium and deductable against the likelihood of needing to file a claim, and really didn't see an advantage. Of course, I tend to get a new phone once or twice a year anyhow...

I would take it apart and bury it in rice. Many success stories.

At least try it first before shelling out the dough.

I agree that I would try this as well. A trip through several wash cycles is an awful lot of water for a long period of time.

Just checked and the price is $6 per month for smartphones. So I would have the $90 deductible + $24 into monthly premiums...$114 if I dropped my phone in water right now. To buy on ebay or CL would be around $200. I'll take my chances.

You put it in the DRYER??? Like, tumbling around? Your poor phone! Also do not try to turn it on while it's wet, that will fry the circuitry.

Take the battery out and use a q-tip to sop as much water as possible, then bury both parts in a bowl of (edit: DRY rice) for at least a day.

Once you are positive it is fully dry, then you can try to turn it on.

OR just call the insurance and get it replaced. Your choice.

my husband also washed his eris, called verizon, they tried to tell him it would be a 90 dollar deductible, but gave him asurion's phone number. asurion told him 50 dollar deductible, they sent it out that day, and he had it the following morning. he washed it friday, and received it saturday morning. went to verizon and had it activated, and all is good in his world now, or as good as it gets until 2.1 hits the erises

fify

Say, this gives me faith in the much maligned Verizon folks, especially the Asurion insurance folks.

But I'll still clean my Eris with a dust cloth. :D
