I just had an online chat with virgin mobile customer service and they confirmed that the Samsung galaxy s2 and HTC one x coming to virgin mobile usa for the holiday season! I finally can upgrade my Motorola triumph

Sorry, the customer service person you talked to doesn't know what they are talking about. There is no CDMA version of the HTC One X, so it won't work on VM's network.

As I mention in my post, it cannot be true as there is no CDMA version of the One X. The Evo 4G LTE is relatively close, but not sure why Customer Service would call it the One X -- it is far more likely they were thinking of the One V (or possibly an upgraded One V, maybe a version of the One Vx?).

I think it depends on when VM is allowed to have LTE phones. My thought has been it will be next summer, after more cities have LTE, though there seems to be some suggestions that it may happen for Christmas.

So what you are saying is that once a manufacturer has released a phone, they can never, ever release a different version? There is no possibility at all that HTC has developed a CDMA version of the phone that is undergoing tests in Sprint's labs as we speak?

This entire post is speculative based on information from a so-so source. It seems kind of pointless to make absolute, definitive statements of any kind based on what we know (which is one step above nothing and about 99 steps below everything). Unless you work for HTC or Sprint and are directly involved in product development/testing and/or marketing, you can't possibly know for sure what's in the pipeline.

Although it isn't likely, its entirely possible that such a phone exists and is coming to VM.

Though things could change, at this point the One VX is GSM only (as well as the One X+). It is because these phones have been announced that I don't believe you will see a CDMA One X -- if they were going to do a CDMA X, they'd likely do a CDMA One X+.

I think the poster basically means: they're not going to create a high-end Android phone, release it on a GSM network, and then randomly decide to release a CDMA version of that phone on a prepaid network. Besides, aren't the HTC One X and the HTC Evo 4G LTE(which is on Sprint) almost the exact same phone? If that's the case, Virgin Mobile would be releasing the Evo 4G LTE.

I think we've all learned that we must take what the Customer Service reps say with a grain of salt. We seem to know more than they do about phones and our phone provider.

I started a post to respond to that question yesterday, bringing up the points you did, but decided it wasn't worth it. And, yes, the Evo 4G LTE is very similar (and even a bit better) than the One X. The only other point I would have added is that they are already coming out with a newer version of the One X (the One X+), and it is unlikely they would suddenly come out with a CDMA version of a phone after they have announced it's replacement.

My point was never that it is impossible, just that it isn't at all likely to be true.

Says who? Based on what evidence? As I said in my first reply, it's not likely, but that's very different from saying "It won't happen."

Neither you nor I nor mogelijk work for Sprint or HTC, and more specifically aren't involved in the process of selecting, testing and marketing new handsets. We're not in a position to say what HTC or Sprint will or will not do. We have no idea.

Makes sense to me. On the other hand, who's to say they won't rename the Evo 4G LTE the HTC One X LTE for Virgin Mobile? I personally don't think that will happen, but we're not really in a position to say what any new phone will be named. Again, we can only guess. Your argument is based on logic and past decisions. It's a good, well reasoned argument, but still its just a guess.

I agree, CS isn't a good source of information about "secret" info like upcoming, unannounced products. At most companies, for a number of good reasons, CS is the last group to be informed and receive training. Its smart to be skeptical when a CS rep purportedly tells someone something that isn't public knowledge.

At least one of the ideas is fueled by MacRumors stating that there are specific Virgin Mobile model numbers for the iPhone 5. It is hard to see Virgin Mobile offering the iPhone 5 without users being able to use LTE (if it is one of the few cities where Sprint has it available). Apple stating that they have VM versions ready to go seems to indicate that VM will put the iPhone 5 up for sale sooner rather than later.

Agreed, after my experiences with CS, I wouldn't believe them if we were both in a thunderstorm and they said it was raining.
