Looking for Music Player App

Hi, I'm trying to find a music player that doesnt automatically import all music stored on my phone and SDcard. I'm also hoping to find one that doesnt show 13 instances of one album name under "albums" when the album contains more than one artist. I'm not sure why these are not standard in most music players.
When using my MP3 player (not phone). I can view by album and it will show each album name once no matter how many artists are on it.. I thought that was the point of being able to list by album, but apparently samsung and google have a different Idea. also my custom ringtones show up as playable music. I just want a certain folder and all subfolders from there to be included in the library, not the whole phone. Thanks to anyone who can make a suggestion. :)

Try Poweramp. It lists each album once. I can't remember what the first thing it does is when you first invoke it (in the sense of, does it read a default set of folders or ...) but in the settings you can tell it which folders to read and then 'rescan' them.

It isn't free and there are bugs with it but it would seem to fulfill what you want from it. The bug that I most notice is that it doesn't take any notice of the 'album artist', it seems to take the 'album artist' from one of the 'artists' of one of the songs on the album. Not a problem with a single artist album but a little confusing for compilations.

Oh, and a lot of the issues that people see with incorrect information on their music players is purely down to incorrect mp3 tags with their music.

so far this is the best for what i like, it lacks the lock screen option that some players have but i have no problem using the notification bar. BUT I've heard alot of bad things about it though between bugs and losing all playlists made when updating. which is really bad for me.

Try real player its awesome
it also has music lockscreen
I couldnt find an option to only show "some" files anywhere.. one of the problems is i have alot of other stuff that isnt music that i dont want showing up in my music player, thanks though. unless i missed it please let me know, I like the interface.

n7player is the best music player in the whole android.market.Having compared this player to all the other major players through extended listening tests, I have found this one sounds best to me
I like it so far over-all except the way it lists things.. is there any way to change that to a more scroll-able vertical list rather than a wall of text/pictures? it feels to much like trying to find a road on a map manually.

so yeah still looking, thanks for the suggestions and input so far

n7player is actually a very good player. I recently got problems with double entries that I cannot get rid of, but I'm probably the only one facing it.

thank you all for your imput, but i think the responses are drifting from my question, just a remider

one that doesnt show 13 instances of one album when album contains more than one artist.
I just want a certain folder and all subfolders from there to be included in the library, not the whole phone.

unless i missed a setting somewhere, winamp does not meet that need.
also, I do not like n7's exploring interface.. is there a way to change that to a scrolling list like other players?

Thanks for keeping on track with this thread.
