Nowhere land..
Is there any significant difference between .232 and .246?

The more I'm using ics on my daily driver, the more I like it (Still don't care for webtop).

This is kind of a poll, so please be descriptive. :)

I'm asking because I have not found any real side by side comparisons. If there's a difference I will take the OTA .246 (After I go back to .905). If there really is nothing significant between the two builds, I'll stay with .232.

Thanks in advance. :)

The biggest is that you won't be able to upgrade to the next OTA after 6.7.246 unless you are on 6.7.246.

The second biggest is that they were correcting bugs each time they came up with a new build ... 6.7.232 has bugs that are not in 6.7.246.

I am also curious about this, and your response makes sense Thom. But, with the hassle of losing all data/etc. when going back to 905, is it really worth it. Whatever latest "update" I receieved a few weeks ago (see this thread, http://androidforums.com/motorola-droid-bionic/629902-android-system-updating-message.html), seems to have improved my battery life significantly and made the phone overall more stable. I am not currently rooted, so I can't do a Titanium Backup prior to going back to 905.

If you want to install anything after 6.7.246 then you will need to be at 6.7.246. As for losing data ... the longer you wait the more you will loose.

Your issue is why it is always important to make a backup of what you have before taking an unsupported path.

I am un-root-ed and use My Backup Pro to backup apps and data. The screen layouts are lost in the process and have to be reentered. I have never been root-ed. I have never installed an unsupported release.

Just wondering what your recovery screen is showing? qe 0/0 ??

It is qe 1/1 ... yea I kn ow ... not what I was told ... Titanium Backup Pro doesn't think I'm rooted either.

Goggling I find that others show 1/1 on an un-root-ed Bionic. Apparently the 0/0 0/1 1/1 is unique to the Razr(s).

The whole point is to keep this device 100% stock so we have something to compare to.

A bunch of people who have never rooted are reporting qe 1/1, maybe Motorola decided to break the rootchecker.....

Thank you. :) I already knew about not getting back.

As for bugs, I figured as much. Meaning I know that different builds are designed to deal
with bugs.

By specific, I mean what bugs were in .232? Other than the dolphin browser scrolling a bit slower I don't see any bugs in 232. And are there any enhancements that are in .246 that's not in 232 ?

I know of no side-by-side comparison of the unsupported 6.7.232 and the supported 6.7.246. The two reasons I gave before are IMNHO the reasons to go to 6.7.246.

Thank you. I have no plans on going to jellybean. ICS will be the last because I rely too heavily on flash. :) I'm not worried about the update path. :)

Here's my unasked for recommendation to you ... make your decision based on time.

If you plan to dump your Bionic in the next three months ... choose either option.

If you plan on using your Bionic six months from now ... get back on the OTA path.

I have more than one bionic for a reason. :) I plan on keeping them till they croak for good. I'm tiring of dumping money into devices. I would still have my droid x if it was a 4g phone. :)

I still have my Droid X ... root-ed ... and it has many more limitations then not supporting 4G. It is very slow.

I suggest your strategy for maintaining this stuff with the lest hassle for the longest time is to get back on the OTA path and stay there. If you had stayed there under 5.9.905 the 6.7.246 upgrade would have been a noticeable update but totally pleasant.

Isn't it you that the upgrade screwed your droid x? Remember me? I'm that guy as well. I do not want to go to an upgrade without a little education first. That is why I created this thread. Every major update I have had on past android phones has made them buggy. and hosed my droid x. I just went through 3 bionic in one week through Verizon to get a good one and don't want to screw it up and start the headaches all over again.

So again, this thread is here for those that wish to enlighten me about and "Significant" differences between 232 and 246.

I can make a more informed decision whether or not to risk going through an irreversible upgrade. :)

To answer your question (as I leave) ... no I am the person who lost root when I installed the final Droid X OTA and it took six months before there was a method to root.

Everything else on the Droid X is operating ... no 4G ... very slow ... lower quality display ... lots of new apps that don't support something as old as the Droid X ...

Since you asked the question here I ASSUME you are not root-ed.

On with your poll.

I'm rooted running 232. Things seem fine on this phone. I figured I could maybe stay on 232 if there are no significant differences between 232 and 246.

As far as my old droid x, spees wasn't that big of an issue, other than the lack of 4g internet speeds. Yeah, I, everyone enjoys speed, just not enough to plop down over 500 bucks. I try to be happy with what I have and not upgrade if it's not necessary.

Sorry that we got our wires crossed. :(

Sincs you are root-ed I think you will get better answers to your questions in ... Bionic - All Things Root - Android Forums. (Sorry I didn't ask sooner ... I thought you were talking about staying with the stock versions.
