Root Stock Boot and Rom

Hi I have an incredible S that has a custom rom on it. (I bought it like this). I only noticed when I tried to update it and it downloaded the new ICS update fine but would not install. When attempting to install it does to an update screen which after describing this screen to HTC Support is not an official one. Anyway it freezes on this update screen and I have to take the battery out to get it back to what it was before. After doing my own research im not %100 sure whats wrong with it as I dont know much about this but I think it has a custom Hboot on it if that makes sense? Anyway what would be an ideal result for me is to return the phone to its original state. Like ive just taken it out of the box no roms no flashing no bulls**t. If you can point me to a guide where I can do this that would be great. I realize i prob havnt given you enough information so please ask me for it and ill try my best to give it to you.

Cheers

1 thing that is preventing the update from running. You have a custom recovery instead of the stock HTC recovery. This is what allowed you to flash a custom ROM.

Found this link here:

How to Unroot the HTC Droid Incredible S - TheUnlockrTheUnlockr

If I follow these instructions will I get completely back to stock? Or will there still be an issue with my bootloader or recovery?

It depends on how you are rooted. If you have S-OFF via either AlphaRevX or Revolutionary, then running a RUU will not remove the S-OFF HBOOT and depending on which RUU you are trying to install may prevent your phone from booting past the HTC screen.
