Root [ROM] MTDEV-CM9 build 20130120 [BETA]

NEW FEATURES
10/25/2012
∙ Replaced boot animation from CM10
∙ Removed all video files
∙ Removed Extra Ring Tones
∙ Removed Extra audio files
∙ Removed bin/bluetoothhd now building from source (possible fix for Apollo?)
∙ Integrated Google Now

So I cut out all the videos, and most of stock sounds and the ROM is now 118MB with Google Now Online version. So you will need to be connected to use Google Now to work with 3G and or WiFi. I will go back and slowly add back in sounds and such like the key clicks but I wanted to see if I could get Google Now to work, and it works perfect. It still has the loud beep but it's a very nice feature to have in the ROM.

The app to launch Google Now is called Voice Search for those of you have not used it. And you can add it to the Lock screen like Jelly Bean

Settings < Lock screen < Slider Shortcuts

From there you can setup application and point to Voice Search. Also if some one could check Apollo issue with other apps and Bluetooth I would appreciate it. Be interesting to see if I fixed that or not.

Enjoy :)

LOL, just when i am ready to post my review of 1023, 1025 is already out.

In any case, for what it is worth, it fixes most of the problems I had with the previous beta: now allows me to change default keyboard, no trebuchet crashes, faster and more reliable wifi connect and disconnect, no superuser issues.

I would say that the biggest improvement that i noticed was with how it handles wifi. It is pretty quick in connecting and disconnecting. It also more reliably reconnects with my primary wifi connection after toggling wifi off and then back on. In previous builds, it would often not reacquire the connection after toggling wifi back on. I would have to do that manually. Works automatically now.

I did have a problem with the rom initially getting the wifi to work at all. I would simply "start" to turn on wifi but never succeed. I think it might have been caused by restoring some of the google apps and data with titanium backup. I reflashed the rom and was careful to only restore a few google apps using titanium. This time wifi worked perfectly. I am not sure what caused the problems the first time, but the reflash cleared it all up.

Great job on this build.

I rebooted it after the install but the wifi spot is grayed out and i can't turn it on .:( It's kind of funny with the new update 20 minutes before it I trying to put Google now on it with no luck so i looked at this to see if there was an update with it in it  and so far it works really good.

So is WiFi not working? If so make sure to do a full wipe. Also Bluetooth and WiFi also work together at least it did for me :)

I found a bug on the 20121023 version today: The speech recognition doesn't work, it just "spins" the blue orb and then eventually gives an error message. FWIW I was trying to transcribe a text message, which is usually faster than typing if you're in a quiet room. I don't know if someone can test that out real quick in the 20121025 version as I probably won't be able to install it for a couple of days.

Works fantastic in fact I'm using it right now. works lightning fast compared to my old triumph. Thanks again g60, hm we might need a thanks to tenth power for more efficiency. :)

I agree. Installed it (20121025 part deux) last night and everything I have tested is running great.

G60 and MTDEV thanks for your efforts.

One question. Should I stick with the kernel (2.6.32.59) or try something different?

Stick with the packaged kernel. And maybe wait until we (g60) gets everythng connected to his new kernel

Odd? I flashed minimal triumph about 3 or 4 weeks ago.... since then I've wiped and flashed 7 or 8 other roms. Every Rom since the minimal, when I reboot, I get the minimal triumph guy when I first start my phone... everything else is text book, I get the sweet new cyanogen ring of power on newest cm9 build, etc. I guess if it's not broke don't fix it eh? I always wipe/reset and then wipe dvalchik. Anything else I'm suppose to wipe?

The minimal triumph rom flashes its custom boot logo onto a hidden partition...it will stick like that unless you flash a rom that changes it like b-randons stock...but if you want to change it you can go to the main all things root page with all the roms and there is one that says flashable boot logos or something like that...they have the stock emblem in red and green as well as many custom ones...dowload and flash i cwm and it will change to one of your choice

@madman- updating to 10 25 today nice to see Apollo back. My Triumph is one of the older ones that still has the grandfathered plan, I've had no problems with the 10/23 cm9 rom everything thats supposed to work seemed to be working as it should.
NICE WORK. When you get the camera workn Ill be kipn u up a nice tip. I noticed jelly bean isnt even avalable on the new droid max. So your work is pretty much keeping up with the newer M devices. thanks again.

Yeah we will be moving to CM10 once the code is more solid so Jelly Bean shouldn't be too far out. I am sure the CM Team will be parting ways with 10 once Google moves on to Key Lime Pie which sounds like it maybe out sooner than expected.

What will be interesting is if we can also move into Key Lime Pie. I am wondering if we will have issues with our hardware, or if there will be support for msm7x30 architecture. I can't imagine the Triumph can keep up with Google, but you never know? So far we have gone through Froyo, Gingerbread, Ice Cream Sandwich and also Jelly Bean. Mind you the camera still does not work in the last two. However both OS's do load and run on the Triumph so you just never know.

Time will tell, but all I can say is I never expected this much from the Triumph when I first purchased it a year ago. I assumed I would be in the market for a new phone by now as I know how it goes with non flag ship phones. Some how though we keep breathing new life into this little giant! I guess anything is possible at this point :D

I have not tested that feature yet. Can you kick me out a logcat, you can download alogcat from the app store, and post it on pastebin.com with a link and I will check it out.

I'm having the same issue with wifi hotspot, using the 2012-10-25 rom, everything else runs great, super snappy, I turned on wifi hotspot it locks up on tuning on, wifi works fine otherwise here is the logcat, or at least so I hope
