Verizon vs Sprint, help!

Hey guys, I'm going to be switching from ATT to either Verizon or Sprint, and I need some help. Originally, I planned on going to Sprint because of the cheap plans and the Evo 4--when I had browsed Verizon's plans about a month ago using my corporate discount, I only received 15% off of voice plans. However, it seems that I now receive 20% off of data plans as well. I'm not sure if that's a glitch, but data plans are listed at $23.99 for me. So, it seems to me that Verizon is about the same cost as Sprint. I'm able to get Sprint's Everything Data along with a 450 minute talk line for about $88.00 after 20% discount. My mom doesn't need internet or texting, but she needs minutes, whereas I'll use internet and data. I'm also able to get a 700 minute Verizon family plan along with unlimited texts and a data plan for around $95.00 after discounts. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Sprint supposed to be significantly cheaper than big red? Is there a real reason to go Sprint over Verizon, other than the $7 difference, when Verizon has better coverage--according to their coverage maps? Thanks guys!

You're going to find two people on this forum, one will tell you Sprint (IOWA) and one will tell you Verizon (d-something 66)... Good luck.

I say go with the one that is the best in your area and then, the one which has the device you would like to purchase.

If there's only $7 price difference for you, I would try to find out who has better coverage in your area and go with that. If you travel alot though, like very long distances, I would go with Verizon since I believe they have wider coverage than everyone on average.

I live in California. My mom, however, does plan to do some travelling. So, I guess that Verizon's got the upper hand. But I still don't understand why people tout the "competitive pricing" of Sprint when pricing is identical, aside from Sprint's Any Mobile, Anytime policy.

I don't get a discount from either place, so when I compared prices for my family plan it was quite a price difference. With 2 lines through Sprint with 1500 minutes for landline phones and unlimited everything else, we pay $130. A comparable plan from Verizon neared $200 a month. We don't travel much and Sprint is stronger in our area, so it was a no brainer for me.

Yeah, that definitely makes sense, but I'm still shocked to see how close the prices are when the majority of threads I read claim that Sprint is sooooooooo much cheaper than Verizon.

It is alot cheaper if you don't have discounted prices.
By atleast $50 on a 2 line family plan.

Haha. True, but it's pretty easy to get a discount. Hell, you can net a 10% discount w/ Verizon for just being a student (15% with Sprint).

Ok, so for pretty much unlimited everything on Sprint for 1 line it's $69.99. The only thing that's not unlimited is landline calls which you get 450 minutes for. I only use 100 or less minutes for landlines and would guess the majority of people are the same.Sprint - Define Region

Verizon is $59.99 for unlimited text and 450 minutes too, but you use those for landlines and other cell carriers that aren't Verizon. Plus you'll need a $29.99 Data Plan, which puts you at $20 more than Sprint. Really!?!? I'm about to go back to school, looks like my bill will be cheaper!! If I'm already enrolled but don't start for 2 months, can I tell them now and start getting discounted?

I have been with Sprint for 11 years now and every time I have checked the prices of the other carriers Sprint had them beat by quite a bit.
I get great coverage voice and data from NY to South FL and then some. My wife and I have the Family everything plan for 129 and that includes 1500 anytime minutes, any mobile to mobile, night at 7 & all week end with unlimited text, data, email, navigation......(basically every thing Sprint has you get).

Now that the phones are among the best and even getting better it's a no brainer UNLESS Sprint has bad coverage where you are. If you look first at the data map then the voice map you get a better picture of the real performance. I get great calls even with 1 bar.

I'm on Verizon and Sprint is alot cheaper. My plan has 3 lines 1400 shared min. one w/data. On Sprint for the same price I can put all 3 lines on data with the same amount of minutes. Also, your discount on a family plan is only on the main line and doesn't include add-ons such as data.
