Clean Settings.apk & BT Fix Settings.apk - Feel free to take & use
[Looks like i was late on this one.. Credits to fuzzy & VsuperuserV lol]

What is this?

This is the stock settings.apk from esteem: zvd with the privacy (factory reset option) section removed and NO other alterations!!!

What is it for?

It's basically meant to save any root-user from ever making the mistake of doing a factory reset withing the device options
(Also can use to replace/fix themed settings bluetooth error)

Why is it called 'Clean Settings'?

Because it is pure stock and cleaned of the un-use-able privacy section :D

Why did I do this?

A. To save some people from the headache that can be caused by accidently using this setting lol
B. So hopefully the new roms & themes will include some variation of this MOD
C. For an Emergency BT Fixer ;)

How did I do this?

Simple:
- Use apktool to decompile 'Settings.apk'
- Open resulting folder to this directory (Settings/res/xml)
- Edit this file: 'settings.xml'
- Removed the line reffering to 'Privacy' from this < to this >
- Recompiled apk using apktool
- Open new apk with 7zip and took out the res/xml folder
- Placed new xml folder in original Settings.apk
- Magic!!

Where can you get it?

Glad to see someone else has taken an interest in this. :D

I would love to see if we can change it to where the "Settings factory reset" option actually took you into recovery and took you to an option for recovery. I think it could be done some how. wink wink

No dude it's cool. The more attention the better. I'm glad this has been re upped.

But do you think it's possible to link the privacy link to recovery? That would be perfect.

It was actually Fuzzters idea, all I did was the labor :D

It would be a huge step if we could link it to the "Recovery" option within the power menu at least.

Yeah this was during the phase of trying to figure out anything new to do.

Luckily since then I've actually sat down with random xmls and just read them to see how it all works. So i went and made a good replica of the ics settings with the background and all.

Smali can still eat it. I ain't never learning that garbage.

haha i just did that myself :D but for some reason after doing the background thing now the statusbar item backgrounds are transparent.. lol i can never win..

and it may be possible.. but im not sure lol i would assume just find the code used for option in power menu.. but im also assuming its not that easy and it's probly an ass load of smali files lol

I have a question for the experts here, I want to use the settings.apk from ZDV_beast candy#2 theme because that is themed pretty cool and doesn't break bluetooth, as I used that b4 without problems. Can I just open that zip file copy the settings.apk and replace the one in the MS910_BT_FIX_Settings.zip and flash that to install it?
Thanks in advance...
