I have a friend that has the Samsung Sidekick and I keep backup stuff on my pc, since he doesn't have a pc at the moment.
I have a drivers called Samsung Kies Mini. I tried ti plug my S2 in and no driver was found, so my question is.....are there like 2 different kies drivers like a kies and kies mini, one for each phone, or can I use a single one for both phones?

Ok.....I have an issue now.

I need usb drivers, so I'm at a loss where to go from here now.

I grabbed the latest Kies from the net Kies_2.5.0.12094_28_8 and am trying to install it. When I start it up it says "evaluateing launch conditions" and goes through it's process of whatever it does. Then it gets to a point where it says:
"You are not connected to the Internet. Installation cannot Proceed. Please check the Internet connection and try again."
I AM connected to the internet, as I am leaving this post, so it's kinda hard to leave a post when "NOT" online LOL, so I'm a bit confused.

Phone Info is:
Boost Mobile Samsung S2
Build number: IMM76I.FI22
Model: SPH-D710BST
Android 4.0.4

Any other info that is needed, please let me know and I'll post it.

So what gives, do I have the correct Kies for this phone?

PS: I don't have the phone connected to the pc when I am doing all this, does it need to be connected to the pc?

If you are wanting to transfer files etc for backup and have WiFi where you are, you can use the phones Kies-air and the browser on your pc. there are no drivers needed for that, just be on the same network connection (router you are connected to) and put in the address your phone tells you to on your browser.

That will work I guess, only one thing, what if I wanted to use the phone as a wifi tether, ie: I have no internet connection wherever I may be, no wifi anywhere, and I want to use my phones 3g as the internet and use my pc or laptop useing that 3g as my internet. I also do not have Bluetooth at all.
How would I do that without drivers installed?

I have PdaNet installed on both the phone and the PC and want to use it, because at times my dsl goes down, and it's always down at the most inopportune times, always when I need the net most :).

Btw thanks for the help, it is MOST appreciated. Have to mention that from time to time, because I never seem to do thanking all the time. It's nice to hear thanks from time to time, letting people know I appreciate the help and patience, so again, thanks :).

Well I guess I'm just either missing something or else not smart enough to make it work that way. I typed in the address in the web page and I can't do anything, all I see are like symbols of sorts, looks like a triangle and a settings gear wheel, and under that is like the kies logo box it looks like.
I click on stuff but nothing happens at all, so not sure what I am doing wrong, perhaps you can direct me in the right direction.

On a side note, I found some USB drivers that say they work with ALL samsung devices, s1, s2, s3, etc... I installed them, it found my phone, but I cannot browse files. I open the SPH-D710BST drive but nothing is there.

You have to be connected to the same network router (both the pc and the phone have to connect to the router). Start Kies air then click the start. Enter the URL address in your browser exactly as your phone displays it. When you do your phone should alert to accept the connection. (NOTE: you have to allow java script on your browser for it to work right) and you should get a nice web page interface with a file explorer.

OK I guess my WiFi was freeking out.
I could browse the web fine, but for some reason it wasn't working....it's NOW working fine. I guess you could say it was working about like 90% and the other 10% the browser didn't like so it never finished loading the interface, dunno, but it works now....wootage.

I was starting to install Kies and it worked as well, so I dunno, just weird is all.....I am going to reboot and I will post back if kies worked or not after reboot.

Update:
Ok Kies worked as well LOL, so everything works now.
I guess it's possible for the wifi to "partially" work, but not work (shrugs) I am kinda confused on that part, but it all works now.

Thanks for the help Codegerm , I appreciate it alot.
