I always get an extra battery or two for my cell phone. I am absolutely paranoid about battery life (long story, there's a reason) which probably means android shouldn't be for me. Hah! Love the android os. It's fun and so much more customizable then any other os out there. So of course, the solution is to have extra available batteries just in case. I always buy my extra batteries on ebay. Way, way cheaper than in the store. My concern though is the batteries are always different mAhs then the battery that comes with the phone, i.e. I found 2900 mAh batteries for the Galaxy 3 which comes with a 2100 mAh battery (I'm going back and forth between galaxy 3, note 1 & 2) and the seller says they are normal size batteries (ugh, can't stand getting one that require fatter back, makes the phone look ugly and way less sleek). Does that damage the phone in any way? I am very good at figuring out software issues but I'm clueless on hardware.
