2.1 update went great one of the first thing I did was point to Adobe's flash page and it still says Flash unavailable.

I mentioned this before but awhile ago when you pointed your Droid browser to the Flash page it said something to the effect of coming soon.

It then changed to Flash Unavailable for your OS.

I thought that since some hints about flash being possible on an Android phone hinged on 2.1 I thought I might get a better message when I went to the Flash download page after getting 2.1, but no dice.

I know I should be happy with 2.1 but there are a few web sights that are related to the industry I am in that have logins and other aspects that need flash and I was hopin for the feature.

Anyone?

Flash will come out when Adobe releases it. The 2.1 update has nothing to do with the release of flash.

True, but it has been rumored that 2.1 will be a pre-requisite to getting flash. The fact that the message on Adobe's site changed is because your phone identifies itself differently...that message you with 2.0.1 was programed to be shown when a 2.0.1 Rom phone checked the site...it will probably update soon but like Chippy said...It will come out when Adobe releases it...the message is irrelevant.

Also for everyone else that didn't get my post this is for you too....

Really? I thought the aliens of Antaries 8 were the ones releasing it after they blew up the denogs of beta 5?

No shit Sherlock.

As I said the talk around town was that Adobe was going to release Flash but that for what ever reason they were not going to release to any OS lower than 2.1.

So yes I knew that Adobe releases Flash and that Motorola releases 2.1 for the Droid I better be specific and say that the 2.1 kernel comes from Google and that each manufacturer has to tweak it toand their drivers to each phone and that although it is 2.1 you have to get the one compiled for your phone. Hope this is enough for people not to post that "Google releases Android 2.1 not Motorola"

Now that 2.1 is out in the wild I wanted a status update on Flash from anyone that might of known. I also was commenting on how Adobe (you know the company the releases Flash, the one that i didn't know about. The one I made NO reference to in my post) had pulled back from their early statement on Adobe Flash's Download page from Release soon to a not Available.

I know that the Download page could recognize the whole setup from OS to Browser and give you a message accordingly. I also know that Adobe has had the Release of 2.1 for sometime and probably even the Droid version's to. I would of expected that if they were releasing a 2.1 version soon that they would have already of had a page with the appropriate info already on it. Like I said I was surprised at Adobe's change from their early 2010 stance when you went to Flash download right after they said 10.1 would support Android to Not available a little later with browser in 2.01 to the same thing with browser 2.1.

Instead I get a (several) fools reaction.

So step off the horse take a deep breath and say. I know nothing in your best Sargent Schultz voice. That as all I needed.

I'm not understanding your attitude here...

You pose a question and then get an answer from a user which is technically correct...and then you start making fun of their answer? On top of that, you are asking a question in a new thread that has been discussed in numerous threads and no one has chastised you for NOT using the search feature...

Bottom line, if every time I answered a question I got a smart ass response...I wouldn't answer any questions...that's not what we are trying to encourage on this forum so please try and be respectful.

I have been beta-testing Flash 10.1 for about a week now, and it's working very well. It should be released within 4 to 6 weeks.

Messenger, have you tried streaming music or Talk Radio from any Radio Station web sites? I've been using iHeart for my local radio stations, however its interrupted often with buffering. I'm curious how well Flash will work for streaming Radio stations.

Ok put the word Flash in double checking because Yes I did a search before I posted and I could not come up with a relevant post that asked the question of now that 2.1 is here any word on flash.

And If you do dig up a real flash thread and not one just mentioning it, It would not be relevant to what I was asking and be dated to before 2.1 release.

I was referencing a specific event that had only happened that day and was commenting on the results of my browsing to Adobe Download and seeing the same thing on the page under 2.1 as I saw under 2.01, which was a reference that was not possible until yesterday for Motorola Droid users. The only thing I am guilty of is overlooking Nexus one as having 2.1 for a while yes but its a crappy seller anyways and by having Motorola Droid out for so much longer and T-mobile is a second tier platform anyways and if you use the Flurry Blog article Day 74 Sales: Apple iPhone vs. Google Nexus One vs. Motorola Droidreferencing the first 74 days of selling each phone it shows the number in the wild for Nexus one not that great (see footnote)so I consider Nexus One not to be an issue. and the one event everyone was waiting for was the Motorola Droid release of 2.1. So my NEW post was appropriate.

Technically speaking every human has vestigial tail but mine ain't waggin now.

He as well as others answered the answer with a point that I was well aware of and made clear in my post by stating that I was looking for information from adobe on the release and found none..

Bottom line is if I post a question and it gets answered by mister obvious then why the hell even post a question to turn it around on you.

Remember if you have nothing relevant to say it best to say nothing at all. My reaction of disrespect was in his/their reaction to restating the obvious to me which was in disrespect of me. Plus he gave an answer a politician would of given and I hate politician.:D

Footnote:
Article shows that on Day 74 of Nexus release it had sold only 135 thousands unit while Motorola Droids who's release was 2 months earlier and day 74 was 2 months earlier than Nexus One it had already sold 1.05 million units and had an addition 2 months of sales to add to that figure on Nexus Ones day 74 date of March 16th. So on March 16th the Droid had in the wild well and i mean well over 1.05 Million while the Nexus one had only 135 Thousand in the wild.

Just to clear up that my post was not directed at the OP to say he was complaining but to just add some levity to the thread (hence the smiley faces). I was refering to the next big thing people would want and would become a topic of conversation was going to be the Flash player. I know I am waiting for it.

I know I have become much more competent with Android because of everyone in this forum and I have enjoyed this forum for the humor many of ya'll have. Just wanted to clear up any questions.

Shutech I don't know what you're getting all pissy about. From reading your original thread I got the impression that you thought downloading 2.1 somehow meant you should have Flash.

When answering questions on this forum it's not safe to assume any particular knowledge level. The people who answered weren't trying to insult your intelligence, just trying to ensure you had a proper grasp of the situation between Adobe and Google regarding Flash.

Ok,

I apologize, Yes it did rattle me when the first post out of the box was the one it was.
"Flash will come out when Adobe releases it" is stating the obvious and that is what I was going for with my Antares comment.
Obutto that comment would be like me telling you if your name was Chuck (apologies if Chuck offends you somehow or dregs up a bad memory!) Well Chuck your named Chuck because that is what your parents named you.

I knew that Flash when it came out that it would be Adobe releasing it.

But hey this is it done finished, Movin on.

As Grecho said about wondering why no beta leaks.

The events or Non events by adobe and the fact that you are not seeing any leaked versions out there. Any news they have is old and nothing of lately. You know what that adds up to for someone that has been around for a while. It makes people start wondering if it ain't Vaporware. Just because Adobe says they have it and released a video does not mean that they are going to release it. With companies like Brightcove No Flash On The iPad? No Problem. Brightcove Turns Videos Into HTML5. making workarounds for having no flash and filling the void of no flash availability for smart phones and no info out of Adobe's camp I am a little gun shy.

PS here is a good piece of information that you can at least say you have taken something positive away from this. A search of the sight show no mention of Brightcove, it could be the flash replacement if Adobe does not deliver. Read more about it.

Adobe is definitely dragging their feet over this. Mobile web browsing is a big market and if they don't get a Flash reader out for smartphones soon, websites are definitely going to consider moving to HTML5. There is already pressure from Apple, and if the iPad is a success that'll be even more reason.

My best guess as to why it's taking so long is that Flash is a real CPU hog. Only the highest performance smart phones are going to be able to run all flash content smoothly. I'm sure this will also cause issues with battery life on phones if people think they can start playing flash games and watching hulu for hours on their phone.

Also there are already security issues with Flash. Our phones are probably even more private than our computers, so for phones to start becoming infected with Flash based viruses could be a real nightmare.

Whether or not Flash on smartphones works properly and doesn't cause issues for end users is going to be a really big deal for Adobe. Releasing a version that is anything less than perfect could be very bad for them.
