Hey all!

Thinking of getting a PSP - I travel now and then for work, as well as spend a fair bit of time on the highway with the wife visiting family. I find I just don't have an interest in my DS anymore and was thinking a PSP may be a good buy.

Any opinions from owners? Must buy games?

Thanks!

I had the PSP 1001 for a long time, and just upgraded (in my opinion) to the PSP Go. It's been awesome.

Some people say it's not really an upgrade, but for me, it is.

It's smaller and more portable. Great for travel.
Has 16gb of memory. Plenty for me, but you can add more if you want.
No UMD's, you download games via from the playstation store. Although it takes awhile to download, it beats having to run to the store to see if the game is stock or not.

I generally play sports games and currently have MLB 2009: The Show. I will probably get MLB 2010: The Show when it comes out soon.

One bummer is I can't sell MLB 2009 to Gamestop for a credit towards MLB 2010.

Oh well, I feel like I got my $35 worth of play out of it.

Hope that helps.

I have every model of PSP with the exception of the Go (I refuse to get one.)

There isn't too much difference amongst the normal models but the screen on the 2000/3000 series is significantly brighter. If you are bored with your DS, I am not certain that the PSP is what you need. I enjoy my DS games a lot more, but now that I have downloaded all kinds of things for my phone, the consoles have really taken a back seat.

It would be hard for me to recommend a game to you for the PSP without knowing what kinds of games you like. One of the nice things about the PSP is that it has a wide variety of content and for every type of game you like to play, there are incredible titles for it.

The 2000/3000 have more RAM and a better processor than the 1000. Versions of the 2000 can be fully hacked for custom firmware, like the 1000, but the 3000 cannot be currently fully hacked, you have to leave it on standby unfortunately.

The PSP is superior to the DS, in my opinion. My sister has one, I tried it out, honestly can't understand how it's sold so many compared to the PSP. Must be the Nintendo fanboys.

If you get a PSP, make sure you get Monster Hunter Freedom Unite. Fantastic game, easily over 1000 hours of gameplay.
