Verizon Note 2 Pre-order, Release date, and speculation thread

I'm hoping that's the reason why Verizon is so slow in releasing this phone. The guy that ordered my phone for me was super stoked to even hold one. He knew exactly how excited I was to own this phone haha :)

I checked the other websites and none of them talked about multi view.

Now, to only wait for Verizon to say something important. (which will never happen  )
I'd say a 75% chance of that being the reason.

Well, I think I might know why Verizon is holding off on the Note II until late November..

I think they might wait until they get an sw update that allows the multi-window mode.

Then, they'll be the last carrier to get the GN2, but first to have multi-window capability in the US.

Good old Verizon, up to their old tricks :D

This is a poor reason to delay a launch by a month. I could careless about the multitasking and could easily wait multiple months if it meant I got to use the other 98% of the phone earlier.

Keep dreaming! Might be true in some respect, but by the time this is on store shelves other networks will have already allowed the push of this build of the Samsung software. Unless VZW negotiated an exclusive on software feature set, but I doubt it. VZW is just stupid in that they will not accept a device until it is feature complete, even if it's just silly software features.

Other networks already have this phone so don't take our glimmer of hope away. It already sucks we have to wait a billion years for our device we don't need people shooting down our hope. Verizon does us wrong so many times, just once can big red do something right?

Plus I don't care when we get the update I just want it on my already perfect device.

I agree with this girl, just because we're getting our phones a month late doesn't mean you have to keep knocking us down. Let us have our fun in thinking that Verizon will do something right. :p

I would agree with you if VZ's testing phase wasn't so ridiculously long. For rooters it's not an issue, but the general population would be pissed a feature is missing. Better for them to get everything out of the box rather than wait 3+ mo for a simple software update (bc you know they won't do a release just for mulit-view, they'll include fixes for bugs found after launch).

Please don't take this as sexist because I don't mean it to be, but there are very few girls very hardcore into tech. Most people just make the general assumption.

Battery is non-replaceable, but that 1080p screen sounds amazing. Although its a half inch smaller. But it's supposed to be thinner and lighter than the Note 2. But has a smaller battery and HTC is notorious for having crappy batteries, at least on their Verizon phones. Sounds like there will be trade-offs with these phones.

Exactly. As someone earlier pointed out the two phones with pretty much all the features I care about are the Note 2 and GSIII.

LTE, Removable battery and microSD are important for me.

I haven't seen this mentioned throughout the thread so I'll put it out there.....We're now taking on the assumption Verizon is late to the party because they're going to release their Note with the features we don't have yet.

So......(and this is hypothetical).....How would you feel upon starting up your V'Note (yes, I called if that; mine is the S'Note) only to discover it hasn't been updated with missing features and it's just like everyone else's?

Let's talk.....

I'd be pissed. And take it still because there's better carrier.

but whatever like someone said either in this or another thread...I'd rather be able to use 98% of my phone NOW than 100% of it lol. I can wait 2 months...

I really just want (and need) this new device bc I started a new job which has me doing a ton of scheduling and notes etc...big big position and i was hoping to have it by Oct end.

Two months! Na, seems like eternity, but only 28 days. And I'll take 97.5%.

Well, let's all hope that the V'Note comes with the extra features.
If it doesn't, Verizon will go back to being the carrier that's always late.

A mod over at XDA was able to get their hands on a VZW Note 2 for half a day and made a system dump so that devs could get an early start on rooting and trying to work around the bootloader.

It appears they were able to verify that the VZW Note 2 already has the multi-window/multitasking update installed.

So, VZW is either using this time to test, or something else is going on.

There is nothing else going on. VZW is just dumb and late as usual. They know they have the best network and you can just wait.

So it appears that devs have found "multiwindow.jar" and "multiwindow.odex" inside this system dump. This gives me hope!

If this does in fact mean that the V'Note will have multi-window at launch, I think the next carriers to push the update will be: Sprint (GS3 JB already!) then T-Mobile, then AT&T.

Came here to post this. They found fragments in the file so it may very well be that the Note 2 launches with the feature. The delay would be worth it then.
