Razr Maxx HD Best Phone Ever

Let me say this Razr HD is easily the best phone i ever had. I am very surprised with the huge difference between it and the Galaxy Nexus I was using. The specific items I immediately noticed (keep in mind same carrier so only thing that changed was the phone).

1. Speaker is way better, i hated the speaker on the Nexus (volume too low).

2. Reception is better, I am surprised to see that in areas i had spotty coverage are now not an issue.

3. The screen is fantastic. I am amazed, i expected the screen to be about the same as the Nexus, but not even close, i don't know why, i thought they both used the same screen technology and same resolution.

4. Of course the battery, i couldn't go 1 day with Nexus and last night it was at 54% after a full day of use (Maxx is the way to go, other manufacturers should take note).

5. Voice quality is way better, I forgot how good Moto is with the actual phone part!

6. Build quality of course is way better as well, i like the kevlar backing. The fit and finish are great and no plastic.

7. I like the new motoblur skin. light weight and I actually like most of the changes.

Just had to share, i upgraded to get the great battery life, didn't expect the additional improvements.

As far as best phone ever.. The best phone ever comes out next year, and the year after that....and the year after that...lol. It hasn't been made and never will.

I was also surprised that the screen on my my Maxx HD is alot better than my RAZR. Didn't expect that. Blacks are blacker on my Maxx HD. I had a G Nex too and I agree with everything said. I am a fan of Moto because of reception.

I agree. I was just telling myself yesterday that this is the best phone I have ever had. I'm sure something even better will come out in 6 months, but right now I'm happy. Great build quality too.

I agree this phone is pretty close to perfection. Until other manufacturers start including a larger battery the only phone that's gonna be better than this is Motorola's next Maxx.

I used to be a Anti-Moto guy. I just didn't like the looks of them. But my phone is used at work and my last three were awful on the reception side (mostly Samsungs). And I had to charge every day at around 1:00 to get through the rest of the day. But now I am a Moto lover!! Now I know what everyone was talking about with reception and build quality. I love this thing. and I hate to say it but I can't get another phone unless the batt is at least close. I have to have this kind of battery Life for now on. I don't know how manufacturers can't know this? I don't care about a paper thin phone. This phone is plenty thin enough. I love it. Usually I want another phone after a few weeks. I'm perfectly happy with this one. And I love the kevlar because I don't feel the need for a case. Screen protector and thats it. I finally get to use a phone like it was intended to be used.....

I agree compared to the Gnex, but after trying both, still seems the GS3 has the edge for me.

The GS3 display is better due to the designed lack of a fixed nav bar. Unless videos, the HD display is "only" about 4.3" and much easier to press the buttons by mistake when using apps.

Replaceable battery.

The build of the HD though is better and the speaker is louder. Still, if the GS3 was not an option, the HD would be the next choice. Well, that or the iPhone 5........ I kid.

I gave up my S3 for this. Hated tocuhwiz. Batt life was decent until this phone. Liked the style and shape but hated the hard home button. And the thing that i can't stand the most is no soft keys(on all phones without them not just the S3)!!!!!! The Maxx is as close to stock as i can get with great batt life. I liked my S3 but i'm a Maxx guy now.


P.S. but yes, i do miss the screen size. It kind of feels like going backwards (except for the softkeys and batt life)

Seems like a great phone. But it could be better with things like

2Gb RAM instead of 1Gb.

Removable battery. Its battery size is big enough but I like being able to swap it when needed. there are always times when it's running low on battery and there is no guarantee it will only happen when you have access to charger. Samsung seems to be the only one sticking with removable battery design.

Camera. This is still questionable to me. Though some are saying it's good, I'm seeing mixed reviews so far and it doesn't look like GS3, iPhone5 level.

But those are relatively minor things and I'm getting RHD soon. I like on-screen buttons after using Gnex.

No doubt the HD rocks. I like the hard home button though, since provides another button besides power to wake the device.

The camera on the HD is pretty good, but the GS3 camera is great.

I have to agree with most everything posted here so far. I love the build quality, the look and feel the kevlar back, the improved screen graphics, but of course the biggest thing I love about this phone is the battery life! It's so nice to be able to power use all day and not have to recharge.

The camera seems fine to me for the most part. The only thing I would have liked to see is 2 GB of ram. I haven't run out yet but I'm always on the verge it seems. I've added probably all I'm going to add program wise and there are things I could certainly get rid of but I think 2 GB would have been better.

Now just get rid of all the Verizon bloatware and we would have ourselves a winner!

So I'm sure next year's model will have 2 GB of ram, come with JB already installed and maybe even a camera improvement. I doubt there will ever be a time when Verizon stops clogging up things with their bloatware - I guess that's what rooting is for, right?

My wife had the Rezound and the speaker was better in quality and volume than the maxx hd we now have. And the LED light is more yellow and not as bright as it was on the OG RAZR. But those are small things. Still love this phone.

I came to the Maxx HD from the Droid X, which I had for about 2-1/2 years and it was by far the best Smartphone I ever had. That was one thing that really worried me. My X was such a good phone for me, getting a new phone and not liking it as much or better. Well, so far I haven't been dissappointed. (knock on wood) The battery is a beast and I had the extended battery in my X. The camera seam about the same. Of course getting used to ICS after GB took some doing, but I geting there. A lot of things I like better and I miss a few others but nothing I can't live with or cure with the right app. I think I miss the removeable battery but I think going with non-removable allowed them to make the phome smaller and thinner so I'm gonna be ok with that. As far as the amount of RAM, I really don't think 1GB is going to be a factor. I'm kinda bummed that I don't have 4G at home. The Verizon map shows 4G is about 3-400 feet away but I'm sure it's coming. The upgrade to JB is another concern I have. ICS is working wonderfully, but actually all the upgrades I went through with my X went very well so I would expect the upgrade to JB to go well also.

I've still got about a week left of my 14 day return period but I think the chances of me returning it are slim and slimmer.

So, now I remain, patiently waiting for the release of my next phone sometime in the Summer of 2014.

Razr Maxx HD is by far one of the nicest phones on the market. I love it! Excellent build quality, outstanding battery life, excellent performence, fantastic display. You know its a winner when the Iphone5 crowd stares at it in amazement. I love it!

Just to chime in I myself picked up the HD after having many phones last 2 being the Gnex and iphone 5. This is my first Motorola and very impressed. As mentioned it was nice to see that first and foremost it works as a phone with excellent call quality and reception, speaker is plenty loud and the notification light plenty bright.
The phone never lags and the Motorola skin is light but useful. the size IMO is perfect although any bigger would be pushing it. I only see great devices coming out of the Google/Motorola camp in the future.
I must always give a nod to Verizon for it's stellar network and customer service.

I will receive my Razr Maxx HD via FedEx by Wednesday. I hope I can be as enthusiastic with my first impressions. I was the most impressed by the Razr HD/Maxx HDs in the Verizon store. The Samsung Galaxy SIII felt like a toy in my hand and was aesthetically unpleasing. The Circles Widget seems well designed and thought out. The weight and feel of the phone seemed good. I was definitely interested in a screen size bigger than 4", but not too big to be cumbersome. The Razr HD fits that bill. I noticed no lag and everything seemed smooth.
My only minor annoyance was the stock launcher with only scrolling homepages going right. I will play with that a bit to see if I can get use to it or change to Nova, but then I lose the Circles Widget.
When I get it, charge, and setup. I will first test out to see if I get any of the issues being reported with the wifi and camera.

Verizon. I just prefer ordering online because I always have a hassle with getting my corporate discount applied correctly at the local store.

Check the Google Play market for an widget called "One More Clock". One of the settings is called "Chrome Rings" - which is essentially the same thing (appearance-wise) as the Circles widget. I had it on my Galaxy S3. Looks identical.

I was one of the early adopters of the widget on a normal maxx... loved it!

This phone, this phone! Battery, screen, smoothness! It's awesome, leaps and bounds above the GS3, even the display! Oh and did I mention battery life!

I can kill a maxx hd in 8-10 hours, that's how much I can abuse it! A GS3 would be dead in 2 hours or less, and my eyes would not be as happy on that screen!

Well, it seems the phone to watch on verizon now is HTC Droid DNA. It will be no contest with Maxx on battery but it seems to be incredible beast on everything else.

I lost faith with htc on a pre-droid and the incredible.

There are some benchmarks on battery, and that's fine. I don't launch video and benchmark.

I typically browser in a chat room, and that consumes a huge amount of battery. DNA would probably be done in 4 hours maxx.... it's better than an optimus G which lasts about 2 hours.

Yes, I abuse these things. I'm not the norm, I have the highest screen on times, which is becoming a good benchmark. But the percent of screen is also important, leaving a phone in idle for days is not a benchmark.

I use my phone, DNA isn't even in the running for consideration.

That 5", 1080p screen needs some extra juice. I have yet to see a One X screen, now I gotta go see this one and see how I like it.

Yeah, it seems the battery life on DNA is not bad but not great either so far. I'm waiting on Anandtech, GSMarena review as they do most objective, thorough battery test. I guess it will be close to GS3.

What I don't get is that DNA is pretty larger phone than Maxx HD, but still HTC could stuff only that much size battery in it? Samsung put 3100mah into slightly larger Note 2 and that is removable, a little thinner than DNA. It could have been home run much needed for HTC if battery was 2500 or bigger.
