Root Different phone

Could anyone help a fella out here. I had a prevail and you guys seem to get answers for those in need. Anyways, I bought a new phone, the Pantech Flex through AT&T. I looked into rooting and such but it seems there isn't a method yet and I don't know if anyone is currently looking into it as nobody has replied to the post I made in that section on here.

So my question is, from scratch, how do I go about looking into rooting a phone that there is no current method? I figure I might as well start looking into it myself. So... where do I start. Might be a long shot but it's something to do until someone else comes up with something, if anyone does for that matter.

Being that it's got ics, you can start by trying known ics exploits...

You will need to map the partitions on your device so you can adjust the scripts for your phone.
(using the 'mount' command with terminal emulator will give some info on what is mounted where)


Being that it was released on sep 5, (from what i gathered with a brief Google search) most, if not all, current exploits have probably been patched.

I'm in no way the person to ask about a new exploit... That's WAY above my pay grade... You may just have to wait until the super geniuses do their thing and then bask in the glory of their success....

Hmmm, if the phone has been out a while, there is a very good possibility you can find a rooting method just by Googling it. I've found several rooting methods for devices not listen here on AF by doing that.

Yeah it's a recent release (about a month) so there's nothing I've found as of yet about any rooting methods specific to this phone. I'll keep looking out though.

You can best bet that if it's a popular phone, one is out or will be out pretty soon.

I also got pantech flex amazing phone I tried binary root with no luck I'm no super genius but the possibility could be this is an exploitable ics because it is pantech and they manfuctured it before the release

A buddy of mine has a daughter who has a Motorola phone that didnt show any method for root. I checked out similar phones and seen they all used the OneClickRoot software, so I tried it and it worked. But of course, doing so, may result in your phone becoming a paper weight.

Absolutely. Any time it's not listed for that specific device there's a very good chance that you will end up with a brick.

I don't think any pantechs have had ics. Till the flex that's the issue the burst was rooted on the gingerbread system we got the first. High end pantechs device.we gotta have the guts. I guess

Im so in favor of rooting that when I do make my next phone purchase, making sure its highly supported by the rooting community is a top priority. I gotta have custom roms and free tethering

That would be anything HTC htcs have been the rave of the. Community but regarding the pantechs. We have the opportunity here to start something just like the PANTECH burst usersers we can begin a movement twords these btw the galaxy series doesn't have much of a rom. Selection
