Possible Breakthrough for android 2.1 update on HTC Hero

In emailing HTC in regards to the update they responded with the same generic response they give to everyone that the 2.1 update is scheduled to be released in late April. So I decided to ask a different question and I got an interesting response:

My Question:
How come the Sprint version of the Hero is able to receive a 2.1 android update ahead of the European GSM Version?

Thank you for your reply about getting the Android 2.1 update for your device.

The Android 2.1 update for the European devices is scheduled to be release around the same time that the update is pushed to other Hero devices.

I am just letting all the other HTC Hero fans know. It is possible that the 2.1 update will be pushed out on April 9th with Sprints update. Who know? Please don't respond with animosity, I am just relaying the message and letting the readers decide. Lets hope that we all will be receiving the update on that special day!!! God Bless!!!

But considering the amount of e-mails from HTC I've seen all stating different things I wouldn't hold my breath.

do NOT eat it! Ur hat is too cool to be eaten ...anyways... the only piece of official info we have here (that HTC support keeps pasting in their answers) is that the release date is around the end of april (i bet 32nd )... any speculation about 16th will lead to a needless hope and inevitable disappointment
