Finally off DM 1.0!

Well I finally got off DM 1.0 !. I was really hesitant to try another rom since I started with sholes way back when.I currently running adamz 5.0.1 now. Now I want to try out a few other roms out there that isn't cyanogen. I like to theme my droid the way I want it. I was checking a few roms out there, but all of them have a blue theme of some sort. And I also want the 3D launcher. Any and all help is greatly appreciated, thanks!!:)

Specifically not Cyanogen?

Also this should probably have gone in the "All Things Root" forum.

Why not Cyanogen? Many of us agree that it's the best ROM out there right now. But if you insist, you can also try Pete's Bugless Beast; that's what I used for the longest time until the Cyanogen port became stable enough for daily use. Cyanogen is also easier to apply and use than the other ROMs; you can download the free version of ROM Manager and it'll flash ClockworkMod Recovery for you, then you can go into Download ROM and download the latest CyanogenMod, and if you want, a better kernel and an upgrade to the baseband.

Trust me, you'll like any ROM better than DroidMod... I feel like all I do nowadays is bash on DroidMod. :p In my defense they haven't released anything in such a long time and they pulled that whole "We're too lazy to update our ROM so we'll call ESE53 immoral. All of you heathen developers can go burn in hell now".

Being on 2.1 does make a big difference in terms of stability. Again, my best experiences have been with Cyanogen and after that Bugless Beast, but Simply Stunning has been very popular as well. Ultimate Droid and Smoked Glass are somewhat popular as well. Any of those choices should serve you very well, but since Cyanogen is just so easy to install, I'd go with that. If you're willing to shell out for ROM Manager Premium, you can use it to download and install Bugless Beast and Ultimate Droid as well!

Hmm, you should also update your baseband. ROM Manager has the download under the CyanogenMod section but it should be able to be applied to any ROM and stays with you unless you flash an SBF file; so it doesn't matter if you switch ROMs, the baseband update stays. You'll have to reactivate your phone but that takes all of a minute, unless you happen to be in an area with bad reception, where it usually gives you a hassle about reactivation.

If you don't like the blue themes. I suggest Blackdroid's "Ultimate Droid 9.0" The notification bar is black with white lettering, and you can chose what launcher you want, what theme you want and you pick and chose your custom apps. And the themes is dark..which is a prefernce of mine. Plus...I haven't had any force closes. Try it out.

I kinda have to agree and disagree, I love Koush's Cyanogen ROM but it became slow especially the phone app. It became almost unresponsive at times causing me to miss calls and having to press the end button several times to hang up a call.

It's the most responsive ROM I have used. Like always, it seems different users have completely different experiences with the ROMs out there, which is why it's a good thing there are so many choices! I had a hellish experience with Ultimate Droid and a subpar experience with Simply Stunning (even though I used Chevy's kernels in Bugless Beast for quite a while, until AdamZ's LV kernels came out). He really has to try every ROM out there to make an informed decision, because there is no better way to determine the best ROM than to try running it on your own phone.

I agree completely with shadowdude777. I have not seen any of the issues that atlbuc has stated...but I'm not atlbuc and I don't have his phone. My experience and my phone has been INCREDIBLY fast with very few problems...it's the best for ME. I agree with trying things out for yourself. If you don't like Cyanogen...that's cool...find what works best for YOU. That is the beauty of the choices we have available. When DM releases their official 1.1 ROM...I'll be there, without bias (I hate 1.0) to try it out cause it may be the best ROM available at that time...but I gotta try it before I can come to any kind of conclusion. Opinions that others have don't determine my opinions at all.
