Help Putting videos from pc onto my Nexus 7

I can pretty much guarantee it will play all the video files it says are unsupported. As for music, I don't know exactly what the standard music player supports but I use my phone as music player and swear by poweramp, plays everything from flac aac to wav and mid. It isn't free but I bought it years ago and haven't regretted it for a second.
The message you get doesn't account for 3rd party apps that provide the playback support, don't worry about it :)

If you're looking to hook up a dvd player to your nexus, I'm afraid I must disappoint you.

Have a look at this topic for more info

There is free conversion stuff out there but I use DVD Catalyst 4 retail version. You can do DVDs or video files you already have on your PC. It was well worth the money. It automatically formats for your screen and pixel count when you select your device in the dialogue screen. Supports a bunch of devices. I just finished putting True Grit, The Nanny Diaries, Ice Age, Captain America and Stardust on my N7.
The developer supports this extremely well. He answered all my questions in a matter of minutes. Some DVDs can be a little tricky as they use Fake tracks so finding the actual movie track can take a little work. But the interface for doing the conversion is super simple. Just connect your N7 to your PC, pull up the program on your PC, pop the DVD in the drive. When the Windows nag pops up just close it. Select your device and quality of download, select the tracks you want to convert and press go. Conversion speed on my 64 Bit Win7 was from 4x to 7X . (4X means a 2 hr movie converts in 30 minutes). Even does subtitles--but a little more searching to get it just right. I haven't tried it on BluRay, yet. I don't have a BluRay in my PC. I also understand that some additional software may be required for it. You can contact the developer at dvdcatalyst@gmail.com. Website is www.tools4movies.com Enjoy!
