malware blocker app, antivirus etc

I'm looking for an app that is 100% free.....that will protect my phone from malware, spyware, viruses and ads and other issues that phones can get that i'm not fully aware of...... pantech burst android 2.3.5 (i'm not updating my os)......if someone can recommend something i would be very greatful!!! Also an app that is very easy to understand and use.... as i say in all my threads I'm not familar with technology at all!!!

Does this get rid of those annoying notification ads? I installed a couple of free apps awhile ago and one of them (not sure which one) put these ads that are randomly displayed on my notification bar. Even when not using any apps these ads pop up. I uninstalled all the recent apps and am still getting these things popping up randomly throughout the day. Not cool

There is a sticky at the top of the forums with info on apps that help you remove those notifications.

ok thank you very much! i was reading the reviews and it looks as though some people stated they payed for it so i'm unsure if its free or not...i went to google play obviously and it doesnt quite say if its free or a paid version? and what exactly does it mean to have your phone 'rooted' and is it necessary whatever it is might i mind you, i have no phone technology what so ever..... so i'm really hoping this is an app that i will EASILY benefit from as well as super easy for me to use ..from without my totally screwing up my phone....

If Avast was to confusing, I recommend googling "best free mobile security apps" and read the online reviews. You should get a pretty good idea of what you're looking for. I do strongly recommend Avast and if you want to know a little more about it, google "how do I use Avast Mobile Security for Android"

I’ve had a droid for two years and have never used any form of protection. I just get everything from Google Play because they sniff it out before they post it. Those apps, especially the free ones, are likely to have push ads and other annoying marketing crap, but nothing dangerous.
