Eris w/ 2.1 v2 leak - Memory & Bluetooth question

I upgraded from 1.5 to the "new" 2.1 leak...so far it's snappier, but I've noticed a couple anomolies. I'm hoping that someone here can enlighten me. If I do a fresh reboot then use Advanced Task Killer to kill all the apps that run on startup, I can usually get around 104 MB of free memory. But, for whatever reason, it always seems to trickle down to about 30 to 40 on any given day. I have to run ATK again just to get it back up to around 70 MB free. Is there a memory leak? Or is this caused by random apps running in the background eating memory?

There are some, like MP3 Store, Market, and Voice Dialer that seem to run even after I kill them with ATK. They always come back! Grrr!

Next question, and kind of an observation...I have a Kia Forte Koup with built in Bluetooth. The Eris syncs up just fine and I can voice dial. I've noticed that others have said that the Eris wouldn't let you voice-dial with Bluetooth, but mine does. It worked with 1.5, too. My question is whether there's a way to increase the volume further...when I had 1.5 I could easily hear calls over bluetooth, but 2.1 is much quieter. I've got the "Bluetooth In-Call Volume" maxed out, and my volume in my car is almost maxed, but it's still quieter than it used to be. Any ideas?

Thanks! This forum is great! :D

Regards,
Sonny W.

My partner noticed the same thing in his car the other day. I cannot get my phone to pair to my Mercedes CLS or Acura TL. It worked fine with 1.5, but it is a no go on 2.1.

Hmm...maybe you should upgrade to a Kia! :D

All kidding aside, are you saying that you have 2 problems? One being the abnormally quiet bluetooth audio, and the other being that you cannot connect your Eris to your bluetooth?

I have seen an instance where I couldn't get my old phone (Blackberry) to connect to my bluetooth...I ended up changing the name of my phone and then ran the Discovery again...it worked. Not sure if there was just a stuck bit somewhere, but it worked fine after that.

Any ideas about killing all those extra apps that no one uses?

So are you able to sync your phonebook to your Kia with that 2.1 leak?

Yes, it works just as well as 1.5 did. Prior to the Eris, I had a Blackberry Storm that worked fine, too. It makes its Bluetooth connection, then spends about 30 seconds downloading the phonebook. After that, I can hit the "Voicedial" button on my steering wheel and tell it to call whoever. Works great.

Interesting...when I was running 1.5, the Eris would pair with my Mercedes ML320CDI, but no phone book transfer. Now that I am running the 2.1 leak, the phone book transfers perfectly, as well as recent calls, dialed calls, etc.

So, in my experience 2.1's bluetooth stack is better than 1.5's.

This seems to all depend on the make and model of the head unit. Some people have no problems syncing and some of us were able to sync on 1.5 and not on 2.1 leak(either version). Not sure about rooted phones. No fix that I have heard about.
