Help eBay app missing

Hi guys,

I've got weird problem with my HTC ONE X.

It's a new one, I even done factory reset before I started using it.

But when I go to "All Apps" list in Settings, I can see that eBay is installed, in Play Store it's also installed, I can only update it or remove updates, I cannot un-install it, I presume it was pre-installed on my phone.

However there is no eBay icon in my apps, nor I can create a short-cut on my home screen, only way to turn eBay on is by going to Play Store searching for eBay and opening it through there, I've tried disabling / enabling, installing / un-installing updates it still doesn't come up..

I am using same Google Play account on HTC EVO3D, Asus Transformer Prime and HTC ONE X, everything is fine, except this eBay thing on X.

Any clues?

Thx

Hmm, that sounds very strange.

Where did you get your phone from? Sim free or a carrier?

Never heard of the eBay app being preinstalled before and even if it is then it would be in the app draw.

In the Apps in Settings section what options does it give you?

Are you rooted at all?

Have you tried removing your account from the Play Store and logging back in again? Although a Factory Reset would do that really...

I bought if off Gumtree, it was someone's unwanted upgrade, it was brand new, locked to o2 network, I unlocked it, it still have that stupid o2 flash screen when booting up.

I cannot even delete eBay app, only uninstall updates, I've tried factory reset didn't help..

And my eBay app is running, I am getting notifications when I sell something, but I there is no icon still! No idea what's wrong there..

I didn't try another Play account, but don't see why would that be an issue. Icon wasn't there prior to logging in Play.

Apologies for dragging up an old thread, but this has just happened to me. Strangely, though, I had no problem with the eBay app until I sent me phone away to HTC to get it repaired (broken screen).

It was factory reset whilst away, and ever since I can't see the eBay app, except if I access it via the Play store. Hardly convenient.

No idea what's changed to make this happen.

I have no desire to root the phone, and can't seem to get ES File Explorer to create a link.

Any other ideas?

Digging up old stuff, but the same thing happened to me with my HTC Desire C (Ironically after I was sent a new phone as mine was unrepairable)

Couldn't find an absolute fix myself either, but I managed to get a different, and somewhat handier, workaround.

By downloading the eBay widgets app, you can create shortcuts from your home screen. Three widgets are included in the app: a 4x1, 3x2 and 4x2.

Hope this helps!
