Verizon Note 2 Pre-order, Release date, and speculation thread

To whoever mentioned that Verizon will let you pay the $299 and then put the balance on your bill when buying full retail somewhere in this forum if not this thread....

THANK YOU!!!!

I just got back from the Verizon store discussing my options and the Rep confirmed that I can definitely do that... up to $400 of the balance can be put on your bill. She wasn't even hesitant about it... though it didn't come up until after I asked about the possibility. I had asked the online chat rep and they just flat out said no.

So I can stop wringing my hands about coming up with the extra $400 dollars or charging it to credit. I'll have a Verizon Note 2 in hand on release day!

Soooo mean of you! Hahahahaha we gotta patiently wait it out. We'll have our devices by Christmas PROMISE! ...:smokingsomb::smokingsomb: I'll take 10 beers Treb! Lol

Nooooooooo!!!! My laughter wasn't out of meanness or making fun of the fact corey is noteless.
It was based off him saying I don't get to complain. I thought that was funny because I wasn't complaining; just happy that he at least got a 1/2 hr to play with the phone.

Do you have a store that opens early or all at the same time? When I got mine I was fortunate enough we have 1 Sprint store that opens 2 hrs earlier than others because of it's location.

I have one right around the corner that I can walk to if I want. Not sure about the times. I'll just plan to be there at opening time.

I walked into the Sprint store today to take a look at it. They had the gray one out.. which is what I wanted to see since I was starting to rethink whether I still want the white (this after I already have the white case sitting here ready to go.) I'm definitely going with white.

And some of us will be waiting months past the release date for an upgrade from Verizon because we don't want to pay full price :p

So....anyone ever heard of a Verizon customer getting their upgrade moved up by 2 months before?
Some dictionaries actually have "verizon" as a synonym for "lagging" or "behind the curve". There's also been a lot of debate recently about changing the term "mentally ******ed" as a lot of people find it offensive: Rosa's Law - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. The last time I checked, they had ditched the term "intellectually challenged" and are thinking about replacing it with "verizoned".

To answer your question, don't count on verizon being on time for anything.

Nice, that's what I plan on doing myself. My dad thinks paying 700 for a phone is crazy, so I'm just going to pay the 500 at the store then give him the remaining 200 when the bill comes.

THIS is why you won't have the Note II until WELL after black Friday and everyone else. A phone that existed only as speculation and blurry images that could have been something else WILL be available on VZW before the Note II. BECAUSE it's a stupid Droid.

Verizon Makes HTC DROID DNA Official – Will Live Unbox it Via Google+, Launch November 20, New Press Renders Too – Droid Life

THIS is why I am on T-Mo to get my wife her Note II. And I get one as a side benefit of ditching VZW completely. Our existing device will sell for close enough to the cancellation fee to make me plenty happy. Side benefit, my HSPA+ on TMo isn't really much slower than LTE and I will have LTE-Advanced here next year and 20x20 LTE here eventually that VZW may never have.

I tend to think this is quite accurate. And this is now becoming oh-so-reminiscent of the Galaxy Nexus pre-release times.... My only fear is that the DNA doesn't sell well and they decide to give it "a bit more time" and 11/27 becomes 12/15 (just for a bit of GNex symmetry....).

Well they have at least done preorders for this and stuff that have supposed ship date promises. Not sure they could pull a full on GNex thing after that. But this is why the day is after Black Friday. They have something more VZW specific and such to try and force on people who don't pay as much attention first.

The HTC will be nice and all, but it won't have the battery life, replaceable battery, mSD expansion, or the wacom digitizer goodness. Do they make more margin on Droid devices?? I don't get how these are better business case to the point they need to be exclusive with phone that might compete with them held back?? They spend more on them with marketing so it would seem they squeeze those like HTC and Moto for more margin somehow also. IF I were HTC or Moto, I would say "NO". Going ahead with this continued VZW control of your products only serves to allow Samsung who is doing their own thing dominate you further since you are limited to the network here or there you will let dictate the products you offer. While you have Samsung trying to mimic Apple and launch as much the exact same device on every network as possible and creating broad buzz about the device by doing it.

BTW, this was almost unknown when the Note II launched. The J Butterfly it's based on had been announced, but nothing of this was hinted at and as far as anyone knew this could have been a next year device. The fact it was basically 100% unofficial until this stuff today and actually will hit before Note 2 means it was always meant to preempt the Note 2 sales. I always knew something like this had to be the reason the Note 2 wouldn't be available until after black friday though.

Go study TMo's network if you don't travel outside it often it's a good deal. Also you will have UMTS roaming on AT&T soon due to their failed buyout. That sharing and a AWS spectrum transfer combined with the MetroPCS buy out will mean TMo is going to be a stronger network than ever in the coming years. They are probably only a year or two away from taking Sprint out of the third spot as all this stuff happens.

I have a feeling the DNA will sell just like the Intuition, one month after it's out it'll be $50 off.

The DNA can't hold a candle to the Note 2.

I wouldn't go that far. It's a 440ppi extremely high grade display and quad-core Krait processor that should test better than Note 2 in most tests. The 5" even display size means it will be a TINY bit easier to use one handed. The real weaknesses will be battery and mSD expansion only compared to most other devices. Moto has the mSD and bigger batteries, while S3 is battery upgradeable and mSD. The display will probably be nicer than the Note 2 in quality if not size. The bezel on the device seeming might even be a bit better than Note 2. That is huge for one handed use as you goto 5"+ displays.

The Wacom digitizer stuff is ONLY available in the Note 2, so not really something you can expect to see in other devices right away. I am guessing others are licensing it and planing devices with it, but the lack of apps and built in android functionality means it's not just a hardware thing you are doing as it requires lots of effort on the software side also for it to be competitive with samsung.

I guess I will have to suffer with my iPhone for a bit longer than I wanted too. I've done research in my area and the only one that has good service is the d bag red guys. So I'm def stuck until I move away from this area. I'm starting to really despise droids!!! I've contemplated with switching to sprint and TMO but I've haven't had good memories with TMO and sprint just won't work :(

What market is yours? I am DFW so all 4 are totally usable here unless you are way outside into more rural areas.

Some places will be getting a lot better on TMo due to the spectrum transfers from AT&T. Doubtful anything has changed just yet, but they will be expanding in some markets and moving into new ones even related to that transfer. So something to keep an eye one anyhow. Even here in DFW, they went from able to do a meager Sprint like LTE setup to a more complete 10x10 right away with the AT&T stuff. But middle of next year I think is when all the refarming and such of spectrum is really going to get going as they work to light up LTE. No announcements have been made, but figure that is also when AT&T UMTS 3G/4G sharing tends to get turned on.

I live out in the most rural area of my state hahaha, Indiana has mostly farmland. If you've been here you'll see lots of cornfields. I remember when I was on TMO they promised a tower near where I lived but no go. So I'll be checking out their coverage for the next couple of years so I can ditch Verizon for good!

Ok. That's almost as bad as where I went to middle and high school in western Nebraska. VZW doesn't really cover there or even offer service there. It's a tiny rural service provider and even their service is patchy. Actually TMo doesn't even exist at all where my family is now in North Dakota either. Pretty sure my TMo will work ok there on AT&T though, but only 2g/Voice until the UMTS sharing is turned on. VZW has LTE with good coverage there now, but didn't last I was there.
