Just got my new desire. Love it.

Trying to watch some video on it. The videos came from get_iplayer (if that matters) and are 640x360 H.264/MPEG-4 AVC. I've tried several players, Meridian, mVideoPlayer, PlaysVideo, Media Player, built in player and I get audio but no video. Anybody know why? Is it the video codec or are the dimensions too great and need to be scaled down a bit.

Thanks.

Thanks Ten10. Are you talking about get_iplayer specifically? is there a setting where you can switch to MPEG encoding? Alternatively can you recommend something to transcode with? Thanks.

What I was trying to do was rip my dvds and put them in a format that the desire could use. I tried the h264 because of lower file size and better quality but it didn't work. I used handbrake to do mpg enc. if you re- encode the file to mpg encoding you will be fine. Try using the double twist program lekky mentioned. I've looked at it before and it will be more user friendly than anything else I can recommend especially if you're an itunes user. If not we can look at using something else.

Has anyone had the video/audio syncing issue?

Its starting to get to me now that whatever video I play, youtube, beebplayer, mp4 file I get the video playing with the audio slightly out of sync. I always notice from the movement of a persons mouth to the audio coming through the headphones.
Its every so slightly delayed but enough to really get to me.

I am using videos I had working on my iPhone but they dont work as well on the Desire.

I am honestly thinking I have a defective handset, but everything else about the phone is ok.

Just the video is the problem.

I did use Task Killer to stop apps on my Desire for a while to try and help speed things up but this seems to give the opposite effect on my handset on overall performance, and didnt help with the video problem.

I need help!!

Ok,

Took my handset to the store and asked them to try the video I had on my Micro SD card.
Had the same lip sync issues on that store handset as well.
So I have just called HTC Europe and logged a fault with them regarding the handset.
I am now waiting to hear back.

They did offer to pick up my HTC Desire and have a look and ship back to me but I didn't see the point if the test handset in the store had the same issue.

Hopefully they can find out whats going on.
