hey everyone just donwloaded the 2.1 and have tried to update it whenever i get to the screen where the explanation mark is i click on update.zip and its says the following:

E:failed failed to verify whole-file signature
E:Signature verification failed
Installation aborted ?

i have already copied it to my memory card but why is it saying that????

Someone else can correct me if I am wrong, but because the bootloader on the Telus Milestone is locked and therefore requires a properly digitally signed file for any update to work, the official release of 2.1 for us Telus customers has to come from Telus itself. The 2.1 update you pointed to is for the European milestones, which work on a different frequency than the North American ones.

Again, I could be wrong. There are some that have attempted the update on their rooted Milestones only to find that 3G would not work.

You have to flash to the 2.1 FW the open (rootable) recovery from U2_01.14 to use the root update. You can find it here - > vulnerable_recovery_only_RAMDLD90_78.zip

i actually HATE this phone now after a month hahahahaa. think ill order a nokia N900 and id recommend you all do the same. motorola are shit this isnt a comeback its a funeral, and as for android well enough said, its SHIT

Is there anything wrong with the 2.0.1 firmware? I have been using it and it seems perfectly fine. I am patiently waiting for 2.1, but do not consider 2.0.1 shit.

I wish you luck with N900. Make sure you get a big backpack as it is definitely not pocketable, it is a total brick.

My mates sat next to me with one in his pocket, its not that big just the milestone is thinner and plus it might just be me with bad luck and getting a couple of dud phones, but like i say my mates sat next to me and i prefer everything on his

1 firefox browser (far superior browser than any other)
2 flash 9.4 already (waiting for flash 10.1) the milestone is waiting for 10.1 why wasnt 9.4 installed
3 better sound, headphones, xvid/divx, avi supported, fm stereo/transmitter, carl zeis lens,

damm i wish i would have got this instead

If you wanted divx and all the multimedia get a nice PMP and a normal phone like a simple Nokia and stop playing with serious devices.

1. Flash will be there sooner or later.
2. What is FF so good at? To me nothing, just a memory hog.
3. Child's toys. I use a DAP for that; a Sony X series with real sound quality and Audio Technica ATH-ESW9 headphones not some Nokia crap.
4. Carl Zeiss? It never even saw a Carl Zeiss factory, it is the same plastic camera lens as on any other phone - crap, but Nokia paid CZ to have their logo on it. Buy a real camera for photos not a phone - having a CZ logo on it or not, it will always be far away in photo quality than even the simplest compact camera, leave alone a DSLR.

The N95 still by far is one of the best if not the best camera in any phone available. Carl Zeiss lens are nothing special but it really all depends on the size of the lens and the sensor. The N95 has a fairly big lens and sensor and is 5mp. Compared to the milestone/droid which has a tiny lens and sensor the n95 walks miles over it. The n95 i would say is better then my old sony 8.1 megapixel w150 camera. Nokia knows how to put a camera in a phone.

Yes, N95 had a good camera, but this is an old phone, is it even still sold?

I have never used a phone camera and do not intend to start using it. I do not see any need in that and do not think it will allow me, regardless of the phone used to make printouts larger than 8x13, which even for standard photos is not enough.

Look at the detail recorded by N95 and a compact camera and you will be surprised how bad N95 is next to a compact camera.

Remember; what looks good on a screen does not necessarily look the same when you get a larger printout.
