How will you destroy your BB Storm?

Hey all, been lurking since early March, finding info about this great new phone and cursing my Blackberry Storm1 every day the Incredible is not released. I know a lot of other people are in the same boat as I am. That is, sometime last year we decided we wanted a smart phone that could compete with the iPhone because we either couldn't or didn't want to use the iPhone or AT&T. So, we got the Storm, only to be sorely disappointed, irritated, annoyed, frustrated, and furious with it. Anyways, many of us will be eligible for an upgrade when the Incredible comes out, so I want to know what you will do with your Storm, be it ebay, craigslist, or something more... destructive. The best ideas I've seen so far are

Microwaving it (is this bad for your microwave? does it matter?)
and Skeet shooting

I might do both, how about you?
(If this is too off topic for this forum please let me know.)

Nice topic, I love it.

I'm thinking I'll video tape me throwing my POS Storm off of a building with the Incredible. This phone definitely needs to be destroyed. Unlike my curve, this phone is not even worthy of taking up space in my drawer.

Depending on how the video turns out I may email it over to RIM to let them know what I think of their products.

I still can't believe people bought that POS. Blackberries are shitty, marginally upgraded dumbphones with an OS that feels like it's from 2004. You really thought they could pull off a real smartphone?

Unfortunately I relive my decision everyday. I'm waiting till the 4th of July to pull off a unforgettable grand finale. Might even take a few pictures of it on my Incredible.

I have to say I fell into the Blackberry trap but having been without a laptop for a year Ive found the way it handles emails to be EXTREMELY handy. Anyway... I'm now itching to chuck my 8900 in the bin in favour of a Desire. I never went for the Storm because I didnt trust that RIM could create a decent touch screen let alone a decent smartphone, probably the best decision I've ever made!
I'll probably keep my Curve 8900 as a spare though... *runs away and hides*

if i could i would throw it against a brick wall until it smashes to pieces. running it over with my truck wouldn't give me enough pleasure. however, some idiots are actually buying them on ebay for fairly decent money.... so i will be selling it!

While I'm a believer in the saying that one man's trash is another man's treasure, I just can't imagine letting some dumb schmuck buy my phone only to go through all the same frustration that phone has caused me.

I'd let my dog use it as a chew toy lol and then maybe punt it or throw it against a tree lol.
Just hope your dog doesn't start thinking all phones are chew toys!
Same boat here! Lurking on my pos storm.

I'm thinking of selling it. A lot of people don't know jack.
I would too, but alas I have not been nice to my phone and its not really in a sellable condition

Well, to their credit they have been running a very successful model for businesses, their e-mail/exchange is great. It really shouldn't be too much of a stretch for them to make a phone OS with near the quality of Apple, Google, and Palm, but they are stuck in their old business model where smartphones are only for business people. The Storm1/2 was their attempt to break back into the smartphone market they lost so rapidly, and I can't speak for the Storm2 since I have never used one, but Storm1 can suck my left nut. I think people are perfectly happy with their other model BB's though, like the curve, but that definitely isn't for me.
If the Incredible ever come out. I'm beginning to think it's an elaborate prank.
Honestly it wouldn't be that big of a deal to me if it wasn't real. I'd be angry sure but I'd just use my fallback plan, the Nexus One. Or maybe Evo even though WiMax isn't available here. I think LTE is going to win this round though, which is why I hesitate to go to Sprint. That said, I do believe it is real and I really just want a release date, be it tomorrow or June, so I can make a decision and stop lurking here 24/7.

How much are they going for? I'm thinking a lot of people will have the same idea as these things start hitting their 1yr mark, so that might bring the price tag down.
I'm thinking explosives.
Video please.

Well you were right. The click screen gimmick is more of a pita than anything, surepress doesn't help me stop hitting the wrong keys at all. I've been using Opera Mini for a few months now and its at least twice as fast as the Storm default browser, and its lack of support for surepress is really a blessing. Opera is the only thing keeping me using this phone instead of caving for the Moto Droid/Droid Eris. The other BB's are great if you primarily use them for E-mail, they are just severely lacking in other features that should be available on a phone you pay that much for.

Selling it hopefully to a clueless guy who will then get frustrated and destory it himself while I use his money he gave me for the Storm to put towards buying the Incredible
As tempting as that sounds, I just couldnt' be that creul to my fellow man. I look at it as doing my civic duty in eliminating one more Blackberry Storm from this world.

i too have this lovely piece of a equipment that has been a thorn in my side for the last year. I just got a warranty replacement (5th one in a year) the other day from Verizon. I will be sending mine to cellforcash.com, it says they will give me $50, anyone have any experience with them? That way, I won't feel bad about selling/giving to someone I know. But if it wasnt worth anything I could certainly think of some cruel and unusual punishments for it, which is exactly what it deserves.

LMAO!!!! Well, after one year with my 100% Imperfect Storm, I could barely get it to charge. So I gave up and picked up a Moto Droid last Friday by using my early upgrade. Getting the Droid was like advancing several years. I love it! If the Incredible comes out within the 30 day return period, I may exchange it IF AND ONLY IF reviews from users sound good. I'm not giving up a good device for untested waters after being battered by the Storm for a year.

Good thing for Verizon that they have an unparalleled network, or I imagine many of us Storm sufferers would bail. I'm p.o.'d that Verizon sold that device in the first place. A complete waste of money on the phone itself PLUS the monthly fees for a phone that wasn't even functional a significant chunk of the time.

Oh - I gave my Storm to my 10 year old daughter, and she decorated it with a bunch of colorful squiggly stuff. I'd still like to sledge hammer it, though.

I don't have a Storm (have an HTC Touch), but I can't bring myself to trash it. I've traveled all over the country with it. I've reflashed the ROM dozens of times. I've done all kinds of crazy things with it... And guess what? It still works more or less perfectly. The buttons all work, the screen works fine, my Seidio battery still holds a charge for a day and a half of moderate use. It's got a couple issues right now, but they're completely related to the custom WM 6.5 ROM I've got on there.

I'll probably keep it in my car to play MP3s. All in all, it's been a great phone.

Would you believe this thing isn't even going to give me the satisfaction?!?!?! It died this morning!!! I was going to take a pic... got a WSOD error screen... now it just turns the led on. Turns the led off. Over and over. I don't even get the 505 screen. Nothing on the screen at all.

So this phone's final attack at me is to leave me without a phone for two days.

RIM and all its programmers can go... well... you all know where they can go.

Edit: I know. This weekend I'm going to have my wife use my Incredible to take a video of me smashing this POS to bits with a 20LB sledge hammer. I will share :D
