A leaked version of the official Samsung, stock, Jelly Bean, Android 4.1.2, firmware is now available from SamMobile for the Samsung Galaxy S2, GT-i9100, International version.

The downloadable firmware, LSJ, with the European, XX, language pack, is NOT available via Kies yet as it has not been officially released by Samsung.

This version will need to be flashed via the Odin PC Suite using the instructions in post #1, here, under the heading, "My firmware is not eligible for ICS yet but I want it now!".

Warning: Flashing this firmware will void your warranty and negate future updates via Kies. Only for competent users. Flash at your own risk.

On the plus side, it does bode well that Samsung have version that is ready for release.

Previously I was on ICS 4.0.4 XXWLPT with CF-Root + CWM 5 and had some Nandroid backups as well.

Then downloaded from Sammobile and upgraded via Odin.

The phone got locked and started asking for SIM Network Unlock PIN. Everything else was working except SIM. I wasn't able to make/receive calls/SMS or use packet data.

I re-flashed old ICS 4.0.4 with a ray of hope to get my working phone back but still after going back to ICS, it was asking for SIM unlock PIN.

Then I restored from the last backup but still the same situation. No unlocking program from Play Store worked for me.

Finally I got it unlocked using this APK while being on ICS 4.0.4. When phone started working, I re-flashed the Jelly Bean 4.1.2 and viola! it worked.

Took around 3-4 hours and two cups of coffee and got the project finished at around 3:00AM in the night.

Thank you for pointing out issues related to ICS as well. The difference in my case is that my phone got locked after flashing an update.

When I bought the phone, it was on ICS 4.0.3 and I personally upgraded vis Odin to ICS 4.0.4 and didn't experience any locking.

I am still why wondering as to why it happened because my phone is GT-I9100 international version sold by Samsung as Un-Locked phone.

Anyhow JB experience on SGS-2 is really awesome, just didn't like the new 'Gallery' where all thumbnails are joined together without any gap.

To be expected vosg as the firmware installs the stock Samsung, un-rooted, kernel.

You can re-root by following the instructions in posts #1 and #2 in the, "Rooting Galaxy S2 - Dummies Guide". and using the rooted XXLSJ, Jelly Bean, kernel.

My bad as they say, vosg. Since the release of JB my desktop is covered in files and links relating to it. Posted the wrong one I'm afraid.

Did you observe lag / slow scrolling while scrolling up / down in contacts / call logs ?

Also sometimes, when you press Home or Power button to wake up the phone, it takes 2-3 seconds before the touch can respond to your unlocking gesture?

How about with your phone ?

I think that may be one of the wee bugs as I've had the same issue!

Well ironass. I broke down and did it. I was going to wait, but I figured what tha heck. If I brick it, I am due for an upgrade anyways.

Needless to say, everything went well. Just getting everything back on it. It does seem to run smooth and fast.

Congratulations upd103! :congrats:

I must say that, IMHO, the jump from Gingerbread to Ice Cream Sandwich is nothing when compared to the leap to Jelly Bean.

So many new features and app's come bundled with it. I had to start re-learning my phone all over again. The Power Saving menu is awesome. The screen on whilst you are looking at it is good. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth have been improved. GPS is accurate to 3m... indoors for me! The new TouchWiz with Favourite Contacts and Favourite App's widgets is a big improvement. Even the modem on this is giving me a good, strong signal. Scrolling and menus are both smooth and fast I'm finding. The list goes on.

The plus point for SGSII users is that it is the Android 4.1.2 version which is a later version than both the Galaxy S3 and and Galaxy Note 2 are currently on.

I was initially prepared to give this pre-release version of Jelly Bean a quick look and wait for the official release, however, after flashing it, there is no way I am going back to ICS now! The developers seem to agree with me too as they consider this a stable firmware for development and there has been a number of custom ROM's based on this JB release, one of which I am using now.

So good is this release that I feel it is only necessary for Samsung to obtain the permissions of the various countries Telecommunications authorities and receive the amended versions, with, "bloatware", back from carriers and they will be starting to roll this out... hopefully within their, "Provisional Date", of November.

Sorry if this is a daft question or been asked countless times before - I realise nobody can know for sure, but I'd be happy with some guesstimates: seeing that this is an almost polished version from Samsung themselves, any idea when will it be available through Kies? Are we talking 2-3 weeks, so before Christmas, or 2-3 months?

Also, not sure if it matters, but I am on Orange UK. Once the Samsung releases JellyBean through Kies, do Orange have to make additional changes to that version to make it their own, or not?

Samsung stated "November 2012" so unless they announce a delay I'd hope to see it in the next 7 days.

Yup, all major UK networks release their own 'branded' versions of firmware for network-locked devices. Orange likely already have v4.1.2 in testing now, but as to when they'll get round to rolling it out..... that's anyone's guess.

No, I don't have the lag you describe. Actually everything scrolls much smoother now, not only the stock apps.

My data speeds are unbelievable now - something I've never been happy with.

You're right, its like a completely new phone! Not sure on battery power, etc. yet because I've been hammering it.

Ijaz Ahmed - I did get some lag for the first half hour or so but it cleared. In my case it seemed it was while it was catching up with everything.

It should not be over heating on Android 4.0.3 let alone 4.1.2. Have you tried a Factory Reset in case you have a rogue app or setting that is causing the problem?

I did not factory reset because in some other forum told me that if i downloaded a official rom (like i did from samfirmware) there's no need to factory reset and i told myself "cool , i don't have to reinstall everything again". Do you think factory reset might fix that problem? Do you advice me not to install 4.1.2 for the moment?
