Previously when I was on my iPhone if I missed a call or SMS, when I woke the phone up I would see a message about the Missed Call or SMS. On Android, I see there are widgets for this, but I don't want the widget to display at all if there isn't a missed call or sms message.

I'm running WidgetLocker. What I'm actually wanting sounds more like a permanent pop-up that stays up until it is cleared. The GoSMS app does this but you don't see the pop-up until you unlock to the Home Screen. I want to see a notification for missed calls and SMS on lockscreen, but I don't want to see a widget all the time with a header and no info.

Use "Missed It", then set it to "not always show". It will only appear when you have a message or email, or call, or whatever parameter you want it to alert you of (facebook messages, viber, etc).

Just installed. While it can't give you any detailed info and essentially duplicates the counters already on the app icons (via Tesla Unread Counter), it is as close as I'm going to get as you can set background to transparent and don't show counts when it's 0 so if nothing pending, it's invisible!
