It takes a special kind of person to love a geek! How are all of your spouses holding up with the constant forum lurking? My wife is actually taking it pretty well and even joins in on some conversations with my friends when talking about the phone. I gotta say, she used to be clueless about gadgets but has really opened up and actually become interested in some things just so I have someone to talk to about them. :D

I'm not married but since I'm living in sin with my girlfriend on a shared plan it's about the same. I tend to take care of cell phones and I bought her last one but that was a gift for finishing law school. This time around it will be up to her to upgrade. She likes to say she doesn't care and for the longest time she said she didn't even want a smart phone. Then I got her a Pre when I got mine and she got hooked on web and Foursquare and threaded chat and stuff like that. This time around it will depend on the price and what discounts she gets as the secondary line. If I can get her an Evo for cheap enough I might just do that but otherwise she will probably get one when the price drops or maybe a Legend or other similar mid-range release.

Everyday I talk about my "new phone" and will throw out a random spec. It usually goes like this:

"So did you hear I'm getting a new phone? Does the number 4.3 mean anything to you? That's how big my new phone's screen is. Aren't you happy you have two months of hearing this?"

That's hillarious, I'm kind of the same way. She might be more excited about it than I am so that I will shut up!

My wife claimed that she didn't need a smartphone when we switched to sprint even though she had had a blackberry pearl flip on tmobile. I told her she would regret it if she didnt get the blackberry curve (flip wasnt available on sprint) and sure enough 2 months later she started complaining about her phone :D

She does tease me. Yesterday I mentioned stopping in Best Buy which is something I never do because I really don't like them. She says "why? Gonna check out your phone?" and I said "No, it's not out yet......but yes I want to check out a really similar one to see how it feels (HD2)" So of course she starts teasing me about how well she knows me. Otherwise she pretty much tolerates it. I'm going on a road trip with some friends for a week this summer and she was kinda bummed about me not being around the house. I told her about Qik and sending videos so she felt a little better.

WOW, apparently I am the first female to be posting on this thread as my situation is vice versa. I'm a total gadget geek, and literally drive my fiance insane with my constant babble about spec's and rumours about my soon to be beloved Evo. He finally faced me the other day and said he didn't want to hear another word about it, period. He promised if I shut up about it and let it be in the meantime till it releases he would fork out the money, instead of myself, if I hold true to my end of the deal. Guess no more sharing details with him. I'll stick to my forum buddies and walk away happy LOL =)

Welcome to the boards!

I wish my wife made me that deal, I sold my palm pre so that I could sell it while it's still worth something so i can buy the evo and am using a very craptacular blackberry in the mean time.

You're not the only one. I get the "ALRIGHT, enough about it! It's just a stupid phone!" :( Good thing a place like this exists!

My husband is very "eh" about it. I'm just very recently become interested in cellphones/specs/pixels/CDMA/WiMax, etc. He could not possibly care less. I'm actually quite surprised at how fascinated I've become with all this stuff-lol. I am not what anybody would define as a "geek" by any stretch of the imiganiation. Still haven't figured out what everything is and does, but, I'm slowly getting there. Dh and I hate Verizon so this phone is my perfect excuse to leave and get a kick ass phone elsewhere. Also, his 21% monthly discount and his 25% off accessories that we will receive on Sprint will be niiiiice.

I am slowly getting him to come around to a "fancy" phone but you're talking about somebody who didn't have a cellphone until we were married-3 years ago. Sheesh!

My girl gave me a benjamin towards my EVO :D She just told me. Apparently she knew what she wanted to get me for valentines day but the due to factors outside her control it didn't work out. She won't tell me wtf that means because she's saving the idea for another occasion.

The way to a man's heart is said to be his stomach. The way to a geek's heart is through his toys :) I told her I felt like I was cheating on her with this phone and that I need it like I need oxygen. Thats when she smiles, nods and goes "i know, baby". I get EVO, she gets farmville ;)

I am right there with you. I actually corral my husband into "loving" tech as much as I do. Here's the situation, Me: baby that new phone is ridiculous
Him: That's good baby
Me: specs blah blah blah yep big screen
Him: I'll see it when you get it
Me : okay but more specs Blah Blah
Him: Ummm Huh.

This constant badgering with specs and vids ends up with the purchase or two of any given item. One for me and one for the new-found fanboy. :D
