Downloading Firefox

Hi,

I went to the Mozilla website, to download & install Firefox on my 4.2. I get a screen to log into Google play. What is that? I logged in with my Google account info, but it then says it can't because I haven't accessed the google play store app. Which I don't seem to have.

But I'm on Mozilla's site - why do I even need google play hassling me?

It sounds like Mozilla is linking you to the Google play store to download

You were redirected. From Mozilla's site clicking on Firefox for android takes you to google play store.

Google is to Android as Apple is to iOS. Have you checked to see if your phone has an app named PLAY?

When you set up your player for the first time did you set up your google acct?

I had a Google account before I got the SGP. I can log into it on my PC fine.
The only things I have set up on the SGP is the wifi, and just recently my ISP email. I've just been using the browser that came with it, but sometimes it messes up.

Ok, you have to add your google acct to the player. (settings - accounts). Once you've done that you'll be able to install apps from the play store from your player or from your computer.

What's happening right now is the play store is not seeing your player because you didn't add your google acct.

Do that and let us know if it worked.

According to the above post you said you logged in with your google acct. Did you use a gmail address e.g. dave@gmail(dot)com?

Also when is the last time you powered down and restarted your player?

My google account is set up with my regular email account @myISP.net. I'm trying to figure out which way to setup a gmail account - It looks like it will change the email account associated with my google account to the gmail address. Which I don't really want. I don't need another account to check into for alerts, and notices.

I think I have to use the make a separate account for gmail option.

The last thing I can think to suggest before I fall asleep is to go into Settings - Application Manager (all tab) - Google Play Services - clear data & cache. Try that before resorting to adding another email addy.

made that account. Still get stopped by the "have not used the play app." error mentioned above. It does show my real email as the logged in one, so I guess I have to hunt down where to change that.
