Not replacing my droid...looking for a work phone

Hey, I'm looking to see if I can get any good advice on a replacement phone for my work. The droid is my personal phone and I am up for a new device for my business phone. I have Verizon for my business phone as well and we are on a corporate plan...so the carrier has to be big V.

I figure if I ask here...at least I know all the people here have good taste in phones :D

Little background: I don't have Blackberry Enterprise Server (and Verizon's BB service sucks IMO) and I have always used a WinMo phone cause it integrates well with my Windows Small Business Server. I have had numerous devices and I've reverted back from the HTC Touch (XV6900) to the Q9M (due to the physical keyboard). I would try an android phone (other than the droid...I don't want two of them :)) but I don't know how well android integrates with the Windows server for syncing contacts, calendar, outlook, etc.

Any suggestions on phones currently out or coming out in the next month or two? Can have a physical keyboard or a decent touchscreen keyboard...I don't care as long as it works better than my HTC Touch did. Once I got my Droid...the resistive screen just didn't work for me anymore.

Thanks in advance for any input you want to share

See if they will take over your Droid on the corporate plan? That's what I would do personally, otherwise get a cheap simple talking phone and set up all your work stuff on your personal Droid so you still have a personal number and everything.

Well, I need to have email on my work phone and I don't want to use my Droid for anything "work" related...The job pays so price doesn't matter...but it would be cool to have a new toy. I carry two phones (and have for 5 years) so that is not an issue.

Any chance on holding off on getting a new phone until WinMo 7 comes out?

A chance? I guess...but that's not going to be out until the end of 2010 right? I don't know if I can hold out that long but I have thought about it. I am loving Android but I don't know how that really shapes up in the business environment. As for windows phones currently available, the HTC Touch Pro 2 seems okay along with the Imagio. Basically all options are on the table.

How about google voice... with your droid? hmmmmm? :D

That's what I do. The last thing I want to do is have to carry around multiple phones.

Otherwise, second the devour. That looks like an awesome phone... except for the fact that it is 1.5 (I think 1.5?) and a 3mp camera. Neither of which would matter if it were a business phone, I'm sure.

The keyboard looks a lot nicer than the droid, IMO.

definitely the tp2, its easily one of the best phones out as far as form factor and keyboard go. you can also get rom's for it that will give you the winmo version of sense and the newest build of winmo. and nothing beats winmo when it comes to compatiblity. i own a pre plus for my work phone, and while webos is really amazing i just dont enjoy the hardware behind it.

Casio G'zOne Rock

I do not know if you want to do anything in rough landscapes, but I would second that suggestion.

That phone will be one of the toughest ones you will find on the market, and it is on Verizon's network. I had a Boulder (precursor to the Rock) and I have tossed that around on some stupid things, and never had a problem with it surviving. The system is even waterproof to the point of surviving 30 minutes under water.

Okay, thanks for the responses everyone. I do need a smartphone and I'm not going to be in "rough landscapes"...I might scratch my droid! :D

Also, I don't mind having the two phones cause if I didn't...I'd be pressed with making it through the day on one battery. I just use my business phone for corp email and phone calls but if I added my personal stuff on top of it...just a lot to ask from one device.

I'm leaning toward the TP2 based on the number of recommendations, the fact that it is running WinMo (usually a negative...in this case a positive), and the form factor. I am concerned that Android will not work as well as WinMo with the equipment we have in place...I have tried Touchdown (just to see if it worked) and while it did, I am leery about using Android along with Blackberry, and WebOS on our internal system that is really designed best for windows mobile. I have a little grudge against Palm so I probably wouldn't consider the Pre.

And the TP2 is only $100 as is the Imagio (never hurts to save the company money). Looks as though both of those phones roll with the same processor, same amount of phone storage, same RAM, etc. Seems XDA holds the TP2 in a little higher regard and it looks like the TP2 has much more support in that forum.

Again...thanks for sharing your opinions!

It's a shame that you're shying from a BB because there's a new "slider" BB on its way that looks like the macaroni and the muthafvckin cheese :D (For a work phone.)

I heard rumblings that BB had something big coming out. Don't get me wrong...I have nothing against BB and I've owned one before. Problem with it as a work phone for my company is that we don't have BB enterprise server. Just too damn expensive for a small company. Windows integrates seamlessly for free.

Chalk up another TP2 vote. Although you will soon hate your droid keyboard after using the TP2's keyboard. quote]

QFT!!!!

This right here is the truth, went from my TP2 T-Mo to my Droid and I cried a little on the inside because of the keyboards, I could text without looking at the keyboard on the TP2.

But still hope which ever way you go, I hope you like it, dont want to see you upset about not liking it!

Ya Android is good for work but WinMo is really designed for the work users. Plus who knows maybe some1 will be able to port Windows phone 7 onto the Imagio or Tp2. So I'd say a WinMo phone is your best bet.
