I thought I would post here, and see if anyone else had this issue with the warp...

Starting Friday, my screen started randomly going black... At first I thought it was the screen wake issue they had when we started with this phones Dev work. But I finally ruled that out when I was using the phone playing a game and it went black... Anyways, come to find out, it is something to do with the screen and charger port connection... If I put in the charging cable and wiggle, the screen comes on.

It's progressively gotten worse, so tomorrow I'm using my insurance to get a new warp.

What's really funny, I haven't used my charger port in months, as I've got extended life batteries, and use the external charger to charge the batteries.

Interesting...could it have anything to do with the battery itself? Because it's extended maybe you're getting to the point where the phone thinks it's out of juice. Have you/can you calibrate to the new batteries?

Yes you can calibrate the phone in relation to the batteries, and I've done that... But it's like there's a loose connection somewhere in the charger port... That is directly in relation to the screen, but I'm but sure.

If you haven't used the charger port in months, it's more than likely accumulated some unwanted dust and dirt in there. When you wiggle the charger, it's kind of moving it all around and allowing it to make momentary contact now and and then.

Before sending it in for a replacement, I would try blowing it out with some compressed air. If that doesn't work, try using rubbing alcohol on something soft (like a Q-Tip) and cleaning the contacts with it. I would do the same for the charger itself. Make sure it has dried though before plugging it back in.

Just to make sure you have your bases covered, take the battery out and clean all of the contacts with a pencil eraser. Electrical current likes a clean path in order to get where it's going. Anything that gets in its way will either slow it down or stop it. Good luck!

Oh yeah, I already touched all those basis... Thanks to my electrical background...

It's a loose wire somewhere, and I'm not about to tear it up even more before I have to send it in for warranty exchange. I figure I pay in monthly, might as well at least put it to use... LOL.

I have a feeling the screen connection is somewhere close to the charger port, and that's why I'm able to get it to come on when I "jiggle" the connection.

Yeah, I pulled the digitizer off looking to see if that connection was messed up, but it's fine... It's the actual screen connection that's jacked up and I didn't want to go into that part of the phone...I was just trying to get by until I had the funds to do the replacement... Hope they don't ask me to return this, cuz I'd love messing with it more
