Best way to rip DVD to view on the EVO?

I have been trying to figure out how to get some of my DVD's into a video player without success. I have tried like 5 different programs and they all fail. The studios have made it so difficult with anti piracy, in order for me to get my DVDs they are forcing me to learn to be a pirate.

I am planning to transition my videos to the EVO (of Course).

anyone have a good program?

Well...if you were trying to rip for PC use I'd be able to help you but for the EVO it's completely different as the EVO probably won't be able to read image files lol.

Typically, on a DVD, there is an Audio_TS folder and a Video_TS folder. On a PC, you could just stick those under a folder called "Movie Title" and then go to the Video_TS folder and run on of the .vob files and watch the movie (off the hard drive).

But again, on the EVO, this most likely will not work.

EDIT: Unless, someone, makes a VLC-type media player for the EVO. But not having had an Android phone yet (just WebOS), I'm not sure if this can be done??

Lots of options, easy to use, works on Windows, Mac, and linux. One-click ripping.

We don't know what video formats the EVO will support, but chances are, it will be one that Handbrake exports to.

Try DVDFab.com They have a free trial version that works for ripping movies to phones which it saves in 3gp format. I have some movies on my Hero made this way and they look and work great. Besides that, the file size is small and play back is smooth.

Sorry, did you mean the ripping bit or the downloading bit? Ripping movies you own is not illegal. Downloading movies that you don't own is illegal.

Yes it is! I once ripped all of my Deadwood DVDs to my iPod Touch back in 2007 for a long plane flight. Handbrake worked great then, and it works great now.

Yes, it's definitely just as good as I say it is

It's a very popular application for backing up and converting your purchased physical content.

I'd say .mp4 is a good bet.

thanks for the responses!!! I am talking about my own DVDs that I already own. and as far as I am concerned, I payed good money to do whatever I want to MY DVDs. Just as long as I am not re-selling or making any kind of revenue from them.

iTunes only supports what Apple lets it support. Apple only makes the iPhone. QED iTunes will only ever support the iPhone.

i used doubletwist for my pre. originaly, it completely crashed, and i ended up getting triples of each song, and songs that i had never even heard of. then after uninstalling, i cant get any songs on it from my itunes.

Another nod for Handbrake - insanely easy to use. You can rip to multiple formats, and surely one will be compatible.

If you use Handbrake uncheck the CABAC entropy coding under the Advanced tab. You can use it but it will limit you to yxflash (a pay for app) for the player. I can say that if you rip correctly it looks amazing on the AMOLED screen of the N1. Even Spongebob has amazing color resolution. But thats 90mb per 12 minute episode.

RthymBox for Linux might support syncing with other non apple devices. I haven't looked in to it yet tho. Its the open source knock off of iTunes. Easy way to run Linux on your PC is to use VMWare Player, its free and runs on any OS. Then you can run any OS inside it that you want.
