9-10 week waits? When will Google have phones on hand?

Well guys as of yesterday I decided to give the Nexus 4 a second shot and really indulge into using it for a few a few weeks.

Yay, that's a fine and good. However there seems to be some pretty steep waiting times for this phone. Upwards of almost 3 months on Google's Play Store web site. That's pretty crazy IMO, by the time it's received we'll be looking at phones that are ready to drop for the 1st Quarter of 2013.

Essentially I want it now...lol! So what's everyone's take on this? Wait it out or look towards the real evil dark side of eBay? Lol, I like the dark side, but I really can't believe what's going on there on eBay.

So what do you guys think is the best Avenue to take here?

Looks like the 16GB version is going anywhere from $400 - $600 on ebay. It's your call. Pay $350 and get the phone in 2 - 3 months or pay $400 - $600 and get the phone this week.

Well a lot of our conversations yesterday convinced me that I should have really given the phone a little longer under my roof to really feel it out.

With that said, I think my original one had a defective camera. As I'm seeing some pretty clear shots popping up on the Internet. Only one way to find out, get another one.

Well $400-$500 I'll spend for one that's in the box and sealed that has never been used. Anymore then that I see as piracy and a dropped ball by Google. There should have been something like a one or two per person limit when the phone went live. I'm seeing people on eBay saying they have 10-20 on hand ready to ship and sell? Lol, that's crazy considering people are selling them for upwards of over $800... Insane!

I'm seeing a lot of "factory sealed" Nexus 4s (16GB version) on ebay for $450 - $550 right now. Some only have less than an hour left so the price shouldn't go up too much more. Atleast Google placed a 2 phone limit this time around. They did learn SOMETHING from their original launch, but maybe not enough.

The camera on mine is good IMO, but i've never owned an iphone 5, GS3, or One X to compare it to. Either way good luck finding one without breaking the bank!

Good luck finding a 16 gig for under $500. I got my 8gig one for $430 which is way more than I should of spent but I fiqured I'm gonna sell my current iphone 4s and get a good bit back. Also I got a free $15 from this one site so that kinda works out. Should be getting my N4 hopefully Wednesday.

If you don't mind paying more than the phone costs, ebay it.

If you don't feel like overpaying for it and, as it appears, are on the fence about it then wait out the 9-10 weeks. As Luna59 said in another thread, if you find a great deal you can always cancel the order in the play store.

It's really awful that a consumer must wait 6 or 7 weeks for a current product. I mean what's up with Google for keeping this phone from you for two months? It's just adding insult to injury that there's a 10 week backlog and even those who ordered on launch day aren't going to see their Nexus phones for 12-14 weeks. Is a Flagship phone worth a six month wait?

;)

I'm seeing 5-6 weeks and it probably will ship sooner, but what's a little hyperbole between friends?

Luna you hit the nail on the head! It just adds insult to injury at the end of the day.

Lets look at this from the Apple angle, release a device on a certain day to the public through a pre-order and really get a gauge towards how many phones they need to have on hand to meet demand...Granted Apple is a monster and numbers wise you just compare them to anyone else in the industry. But my point is that I really think Google should have done a pre-order on say November 13th instead of just going out and releasing it. Lol, it was just one of the worst experiences I've ever encountered. By doing a pre-order they'd really be able to see what the demand would be for this so called Geek phone, that supposedly doesn't cater to consumers.

I mean to release a phone like the N4 for such a low price and then not be prepared is just totally nuts IMO. I seriously have a question to the higher ups at Google....Where are all the phones? And if I had to guess I'd say on ebay, after looking today at some potential buys for myself on eBay it hit me. There are people out these that basically blew out their credit cards to buy as many N4's as Google would let them, and then they went ahead and put them on eBay for double the price...Honestly that doesn't do any of us any good, because look at the Big picture, now instead of being able to buy one on the play store for the original price the only real option to get it right now is to spend an average of $530 on eBay for a 16GB version. That to me doesn't help the Android community, the tech game, or Google as a whole IMO.

10 weeks is just toooo long to ask someone to wait for a phone. As for me I won't be waiting, most likely tomorrow of Wed I'll order one of eBay. But thats me, price really isn't the most important thing to me, but it is for a lot of people!

And wasn't that the original idea by Google in the 1st place, to offer a kick A## phone to its community for a really low price without any carrier interference? What's the good in that now? I'd much rather pay a little more by being able to waltz into a brick and mortar store and just be done...

Thread cleaned up. Again.

I t's pretty simple gang.

We don't always agree and we don't always get along.

If you find that happening, please don't call out people personally. It's not worth it, against the rules, and it's just no fun.

If you feel that strongly towards another, there's an easier way, put them on your ignore list.
