Orange UK: ROM Upgrade for HTC Hero_2.73.405.5

Just called HTC:

Orange Handset does not support rom via HTC hero website. Period.!

HTC will not release any software for Orange as when HTC gave hero handset to Orange they mess with the firmware and then uploaded onto the hero so we have to wait for orange to release an update and again that update will be not a virgin update from HTC .. they will be tweak and delete or mess with the firmware, added orange logo and crap and then we allowed to use it..

So relieved it isn't an issue for me - I knew this was going to be the real problem, not waiting for HTC to deliver but Orange to implement. I feel my decision to go with a custom ROM was definitely the best decision I made -
