Tether by wire

Since I cannot get FoxFi to work on my Nexus 7, can I tether to my phone by wire with Easy Tether. If so, what kind of cable is needed?

Isn't FoxFi supposed to be run on your phone? Then your phone becomes a hotspot that you connect to with your N7?

Foxfi works great for me. If you can't get it to connect, try disabling encryption and changing the SSID

You don't say what phone you have - the app runs on the phone, not the Nexus 7 - but I had a lot of problems getting FoxFi to work reliably on my "old" Motorola Milestone. Indeed nothing worked (tried lots of apps) until I tried a free app called "3G Mobile Hotspot" which worked perfectly. It runs a proper infrastructure hotspot with optional (essential!) encryption and it works fine with the Nexus 7... or pretty much any computer/device that has wi-fi.

i have tethered my n7 to my esteem with Wireless Tether for Root Users in the store should work on most if not all phones. its not wired tho sorry

I know this is an old thread, but I'm having the same issue. I am running foxfi with bluetooth server mode on, and PDAnet on a Nexus 7.

I restarted the tablet and it worked!
