Minecrafting with the AF Team

Hey everyone

Recently, i got some of the AF staff involved, including myself, in a Minecraft server, now i thought maybe some members would be interested in seeing what happens with our server!

More so, if it gets popular enough i might even open it for General Member use so anyone can play with the AF Staff!

So we just started last night and quickly built a little hole in the side of a mountain!

If people actually become interested i will try and do more screenshots, i know that right before this i ended up digging down into a ravine, and of course, while screaming, fell to my death...Creepers exploding and all, while Xyro telling me, "Man i could hear that from up here", and me just crying lol...

Anyhow, should be fun, hope that it blossoms into something great!

I am currently exploring the wonderful world of tekkit haha. Are you using any means of communicating? or just relying on typing?

I have never actually been on a bigger server, just personal and friends haha

WOW someone responded, well a lot has transpired since November 13th and now, first off, we received a server error about 5 days in and had to start over, thankfully none of us were too upset.

Right now the server is still only a 5 man, just because we typically have about 3 people on at a time at random times of the day. We have never ran into the issue of too many people online...yet, we have gotten close though.

We have been on a survival world for a little less than a month now and have been all basically building by ourselves, except for Xyro and myself.

I would be extremely interested in expanding to include members of AF but it hasn't received any interest, besides you haha.

I made this to kind of bring the community together through a, what i think, fun and addicting game. If it receives some more interest i might expand it

I just happened to be going through the gaming forum today, which i happen to do like twice a year lol.

I think it would be a fun thing to do, I have heard of other forums/ websites doing the same thing to bring everyone together.

And I know how painful running the server can be lol, my friend and I had one going, and it would randomly shutdown, and neither of us could figure it out so we just decided to stop haha

If anything more does transpire fill me in! haha

Yeah and i forgot to mention, we use Ventrilo, the in game typing sucks haha.

But yeah if this receives some more support and people can donate, since the server will grow and cost more i'll look into opening it to the public.

I am just afraid of griefing and such. I will look into it more, but we would definitely need more admins on board besides myself if it opens

Griefers is the reason i never went public with my friend, plus our server wouldn't have really been reliable for it haha.

But I do know there are some add-ons for servers to help prevent griefing. I don't remember any names of them. But I remember one for storage safety called lockit, it allows you to place a sign on a chest and it locks that chest so only the player that placed the sign on it can open / destroy it.

Also my friend just moved into a new place so we are planning trying to get our little server going again, possibly for a couple other games we play, though only one at a time haha.

Sounds nice i used to host my own but for something reliable like a community server I have gone to a company to host for me. It's starting to receive more hype to so if this continues I will open it to the public
