Sharing a google calendar

I've yet to find a definitive answer to what I think is a pretty simple question. I've created an additional Google Calendar to share with my wife. If I add events to it on my desktop it works like a charm. However, when creating an event on my phone - using the default Google Calendar app - I'm not given an option to select which calendar I want it to be saved too.

Any advice? We tried Cozi which was ok, but we're wanting to hav eonly one calender app (and cozi was a bit clunky and annoying).

In the stock calendar app when you create a new event the calendar is listed in the top colored area. Touch that and it opens a drop down with all of your calendars. As far as I know you can only change calendars when creating a new event on your phone, not editing an existing one.

I do the same thing so my wife has my work schedule on her phone since it changes all the time :thumb:

Thanks for that... Can't seem to see the colored area you speak of. I'm on Gingerbread - perhaps that's why?

I recall earlier this year, when creating an event I was given a drop-down menu to select the calendar. This has disappeared now that I'm after it...

The stock Google Calendar is now a stand alone app so that Google can update it without your OS being updated. Download Google Calendar from Google Play so that you have the latest version and you should be good to go: Google Calendar

Unfortunately older versions of Android are incompatible with the new calendar. Odd, given that gingerbread is still probably the most common version.

I've found a compromise: a third party calendar app. It'll do for now.

I didn't know that... I thought the reason for a separate app was so Google could keep things more up to date since most manufacturers do a pretty terrible job of doing updates.

I would think Google would make the app compatible with gingerbread since it is still such a large portion of what phones are running.
