I just got the galaxy s3 a few days ago, and I truly don't see what it had over my Esteem except battery life. I'm beginning to regret having bought it. If anything, I find it rather lacking. That, and no flash, and you tube app keeps buffering and never fully plays a complete video. I can name a bunch of other stuff, but the keyboard on the galaxy also is more troublesome than the Esteem's, so it would be very irritating to do so.

I've seen a lot of people that have said the same thing and it's mainly on a price comparison. Especially since the N4 is dominating the scene right now for $299. Plus its not on Metros awful network. If Metros S3 would have came out on time, i would have bought it. I was anxiously awaiting it just like everyone else and then I saw the price for the Gnex straight from Google and i didn't think twice. And now I'm looking back and thanking Metro for releasing the S3 as late as they did cause I'm glad I didn't get suckered into buying that thing.

The Esteem is a beast though. I'll always have a soft spot for that phone. Hell I learned almost everything I know on that phone. And the good ole Ascend.

um yes we do have flash and my youtube app does not buffer, the keyboard is just as good as any other and u can install any other keyboard you want like swype or swiftkeys. really don't understand why you dont bother asking for help on the metro gs3 subforum we have a flash thread there. anyways this thread is turning into something else that dosnt have anything to do with the esteem. always remember if u ask for help or tips we are here to help you! in my opinion the esteem was a good phone but cant touch the gs3 in no way shape or form. anyways me and pnut love the gs3 and were both on the esteem before im sure pnut agrees ;)

C'mon bro t mobile ain't any different.

Every carrier has 1 problem or another. Once again it comes down to location. I'm like a crack head, i got a taste of real data speeds and a network and i want more and more lol.

If the Atlanta market would have progressed like other areas then things might be different. But every other carrier did so maybe they will step up with whatever their plans are with the merge. This time next year i also wouldn't be surprised if t mobile jumps sprint for that number 3 spot. If t mobile expands to the size of att's network, i would bet money that they come close to the number 2 spot.

Regardless, next year will be a great year for mvno's and prepaid. And hopefully hspa keeps progressing like it is cause even Verizon can't touch hspa +42. That ish is smoking. Lol

Trying to sell my Esteem but still pull it out every now and then and say to myself "this is a great phone...wish it was as good as the gs3". I have rooted my gs3, flashed new ROM and kernal and this thing is incredible. I would never say anything negative about the Esteem simply because there is nothing negative about the phone, just that technology gets better each and every year but with that being said you still can't go wrong with the Esteem.

Technology advances a little faster than a year and is only getting faster and faster. But I see what you mean. It sucks on one hand because your phone becomes out of date very quickly but on the other hand we get all these new gadgets to play with much much sooner.

I will always have a soft spot for the Esteem. I mean I learned everything I know about development on that phone. It will always be one of the best phones Metro has ever released.

LOL ... the Esteem was a good phone 1 year ago! I bought the S3 and the screen is better, phone is lighter, more responsive, better batter life, twice the RAM etc.etc.

I sold my Esteem with stock battery, extended battery for $100 bucks to some lucky guy.

S3 on Metro is where it's at! FOR NOW.....

Yeah Fuzzy I had it listed on Craigslist, but I didn't wanna deal with all the haggling. So get this...

Guy who owns a cell phone store sees my listing and inquires about the phone. I go to his store he has a phone with a custom Rom ( ldrifas work )on another Esteem he bought, but the phone was not responsive.

So my phone was rooted, Clockwork mod, Rom number 2 and on my sd card I had the Stock back up ... and exit recovery zip.

I fixed his broken phone for him and sold him mine for $100 bucks... lol I don't even work at a Cell phone store and I know more than him, but the guy was really cool . Was nice to help someone.

So ...he got 2 Esteems for the price of feature phone.

Esteem was a great phone, but it was time for a change.

Wow. That dude shouldnt be working on phones. lol

It's funny. Anytime I try to find a deal like this they are now where to be found. But If Im trying to sell something for dirt cheap I cant find a soul to make an offer. Funny how that works.

But yeah, the Esteem was fun but gotta catch up with the times.

I would've sold it to someone in the Esteem community for 100 bucks but then I'd have to ship it and what not. The person would have to wait etc.

I think for 100 bucks an Esteem in mint condition with an extended battery, already rooted, clockword mod, rom #2 on it .... is a heckuva deal!

It is Christmas ya know lol

Damn..Have mine listed for $200 with case, holster, extended battery and rooted....can't find a soul that wants it.

Yeah i put mine on Craigslist and sold it to a girl that didn't really know much about phones. This was also when the Esteem had the $100 mail in rebate so it was $279 on the site. lol. I got lucky i guess.

I found this thread to be very helpful to me: http://androidforums.com/samsung-galaxy-s3/570378-coolest-feature-youve-found.html I found out some cool things I didn't know about my s3, you should give it a look.

I don't know about flash. I had no problem whatsoever with that part. All I did was open the Play store, check my previously downloaded apps and found the Adobe Flash Player on that list and downloaded it. And it works, because I can go on flash websites. Adobe even had an update not that long ago, even though they said they'd have no more updates for us mobile users.

I'll admit, the first time I used this phone I was missing my Esteem a bit, but now I can't look back. I gave the Esteem to my father and when I pick it up now, I'm happy to have my S3.

I'll throw in my opinion on the S3 right now. I got to use it for a few months (Maybe 4-6? I have bad memory :p)
It's honestly waaay worse than the Esteem IMHO. It has absolutely terrible battery life (I could usually make it 3/4 of the day, and I was on a ton of different roms and tried everything.)
It also has questionable build quality. It's mostly made out of cheap plastic that makes it feel cheap, as well as making it extremely slippery and easy to drop (and because it's cheap plastic, it'll break no problem xD) Also, the screen was nothing amazing. It was cumbersome to use and the physical home button sucked. I had 4 replacements and all of them were about the same.
I eventually came close to telling them to ***** * ****** *** ** ***** ******. They said I could just get another phone. I got the Droid DNA and I absolutely love it. It's the best phone I've ever used. Battery life easily gets me 2-3 days, it performs amazingly in games (Dead Trigger maxed graphics w/ Tegra 3 effects enabled no lag -- You can edit an XML file. It's not limited to Tegra at all xD)
The screen is beautiful, as well as the camera, and the build quality is stunning. It really feels like you're holding an extremely high quality phone (Holy ****, I just heard some really loud thunder)
Oh, and the signal has improved massively. I got very weak 3g and almost no bars with the S3 at my house, and I get good 3g/occasional 4g and half-bars with the DNA (keep in mind, I'm in the middle of no-where)

Sorry for the rant, but I like people to know my opinion.

Are you sure you don't have a defective SG3? To me there is no comparison between the two phones. The s3 is much better and the difference is battery life is crazy. The only thing that my esteem had over the galaxy s3 was that the exterior was more durable but other than that.....

My esteem was a laggy POS that sucked battery like crazy. I don't regret ever trading it in for the s3. I can't believe I sold it to that other sucker for $200.
