Hello,

My girlfriend is planning on buying a smartphone. She would love to have an iphone, but that's to expensive in my opinion. The reason she wants an iphone is because she has an ipad2, she thinks she will have difficulties understanding android.

I know she will want a phone which looks good.

Do you guys know any smartphones which are good for a girl? She now has a samsung diva ( just for the looks).

What she would like:

-midrange specs
-5 mp camera (or higher)
-good looking design

she is willing tot spend up to 350 euro ( =460 dollar=280 pound). Here they don't work with phones with a contract, it's only the phone itself we can buy here.

Thanks in advance :)

Depending on were your lobby I would say the One s but if that stretches your budget then the ONE v is probably the beat option.

If your prepared to get a different make I would say the Motorola Razar i. Cheaper than the one s and it has a Intel processor.

I think the one S is above her budget. The one V would be a better option, but is it possible to insert a memory card? She will put music and photos on it, so 1 Gb won't be enough. I forgot to mention that they barely work with contracts here. Here you just buy the phone itself.

Thnx for the suggestion ^^

Hey there i have moved this thread into the Device Comparison forum since you were comparing some devices for your girlfriend. :)

Thank you :)

She is happy with the reactions for buying an iphone ;) but she admits that it is expensive, she can pay it, but that will mean less shopping in the weekends.

I found the iphone 4 for 420 euro instead of the iphone 4s which is 600 euro.

Outsides the iphone 4 any other suggestions?

As someone who does a lot of consulting and support at a company that uses both iOS and Android platforms, I would highly recommend that anyone who has already invested money and effort into the Apple sphere (iTunes/iCloud/etc), that buying an iPhone would be a wise choice. Apps purchased and contact information is more easily shared between those devices.

Same is true for users of GMail/Google Apps and/or already have other Android devices. They are better served by getting an Android phone.

For newbies I usually recommend they save the money and try an Android device. Usually end up with a lot of complaints and wailing how they wish they had an iPhone that at a distance seems like it is simpler/easier until I train them how to use SWYPE and Talk to Text. Then they are happy.

As for which iPhone, that is a matter of budget. Start at the iPhone 5 and work yourself down to the 4S, 4, etc until you can afford one. I highly recommend looking at CraigsList / eBay or other online trading sites. Best deals are there. Just be certain you get one that isn't stolen.

Personally, I'd suggest an iPhone4. or 4S if you can afford. Thing is, she already has an iPad, so she'll know how to troubleshoot it should any problem crop up and not blame you. Second, she won't have to buy apps twice.

I now found the iphone 4 for 399 euro in an official apple shop in town. Ill try to convince her to buy this one. Then she has an iphone for a reasonable price.

She is scared that the iphone 4 will be outdated fast because of the releases of the 4s and the 5. But it still is a decent phone, no? What I have seen is that her 2 latest phones lasted 2 years each.
