Okay so I am fairly new to the Android scene, but was able to root my hero. I saved the flash thingy to my sd card. 2 days ago I dropped my hero in water........full on submerged. fast forward 2 days after leaving in rice, the sun, taking it apart (thanx to the DIY thread) it works again. I was even able to fix my trackball issue!!!

But I have been wanting to go back to the original so I can do the XDA 2.1 ROM. MY sdcard was damamged somehow in all of the water issue and honestly I just dont know what I am doing now. :(

If someone can point me in the right direction I'd greatly appreciate it!!!

With the 2.1 update about to come out why ROM it?
I am rooted with a lot of apps removed. Mine runs fast than my friends Moto Droid.

I have to admit...YOUR REALLY FREAKING LUCKY!!!

Yup Ive got a new one in there now. How can I get a copy of my backup? I would love to reroot. Ive got fresh right now

Well, if you don't have your backup I think I saw a clean backup floating around the forums yesterday. That would save you from having to flash the RUU and going back to 100% stock (and from needing to reroot.

If you can't find your nandroid backup... try doing a factory reset (you shouldn't lose your root, but will lose contacts, apps, etc). Make a nandroid and save it to your computer.... flash the new ROM.

Third option is safest IMO. Flash the RUU and start from scratch.
