Contacts in Battery Door?

No, by contacts, it is referring to the connection points between the battery door and the phone body. these "Contacts" are on occasion filled with metal to allow for a interleaved extra antenna in the door. It doesn't mean that without it on you can't make phone calls, or with it you get a better signal. It just allows for more surface area (usually for a more stable connection, not a faster or more powerful one) for an antenna. Not all phones use this technology in there phones. In short, the S3 does not have the metal in the contact points. But some phones do. So, when designing phones, they have to make a choice of how the internals are.

In the case of what you are talking about, they are referring to the shape and design of the "clips" that insert into the phone slots.

I dissagree a bit with your oppinion. Mostly recent Samsung S phones have a plastic back cover which has no 'metal contacts' possibility. As remember my previous Captivate (which now uses my ex-stepdaughter) it had contacts like that.

What "contacts" on the battery door? I just pulled the stock door off my Sprint S3 and I don't see no stinkin' contacts. Nothin' but plastic. My understanding is that the NFC antenna is in the battery itself. Am I missing something, or is Phandroid?

Please read the article carefully. You bring it in, right? learn from it then.
They say that "not all phones" need metal connectors, got it?
