Insufficient Storage Space?

I'm currently experiencing a problem that rears its ugly head once every few months.

My S2 is a 16 Gb model with a 32 Gb Micro SD card on board.

Both these memory areas are approximately half full.

My apps auto update and usually do so without any problem.

Currently a couple of apps go through the process but fail to finish, with the pop-up "Insufficient Storage Space".

I clean the cache on a weekly basis and, at times like this, I do it again and retry the update with the same result.

Any tips, anyone?

apps install into the internal storage area, which is 2.1Gb. This is a partition on the internal sd card. You have filled this partition.

You will need to move apps to sd card (12 Gb max), or external sd card to free up some space.
You can do this by going into application manager and looking through the individual apps you have installed. some may have the "move to sd card" button enabled.

but remember that by dying this you can move most parts of you're app to sd card and there will be some content in your program memory.

I am having the same issue with a Galaxy S2 (vodafone) looked at the root cleaner app but it states it will only work on rooted devices which I do not want to do, I have had the phone now for two years and it has performed well until the JB updates, for some reason I received two JB updates, not sure what were the differences as it said it was version 4.1.2 on both occasions.
The space issue is becoming a real issue as any update to my apps over 7 or 8 MB fail due to 'insufficient space available' I have uninstalled loads of apps, moved all the apps that will move to SD to the SD card and still the space is decreasing, what the hell is going on!! sometimes I get a 'invalid file package' message which I have put down to insufficient space to store the downloaded file not completing.

I will monitor this thread in the hope that someone out there finds a solution before I go down the reset option which I am really loathed to do as it took ages to get the phone to look and work the way I wanted it to, apart from the low space issue of course!!

Very strange! There has only been one firmware upgrade for Vodafone UK on Jelly Bean and that was to XWLSD back in March. Did your space become an issue after the second, "upgrade", or the first?

My feeling is that the problem lies with the integration of apps, files and settings after the first or second upgrade. If you take your phone to a Samsung Service Point they will wipe it completely and re-install the stock firmware. Alternatively you can read through the Firmware update problems... what you can do! which describes how to backup much of your stuff and how you can re-flash the firmware yourself as a vanilla install. This should solve your problems.
