So I got my dna today

Im just at the point of almost having it setup like I like but I have some questions/issues

I wanted to try the stock email but when I put in my aol email (yes I know who uses aol still) it tells me login details are wrong something to that affect when they aren’t

Is there any settings in the camera I should set to get the best pics I can overall

I have it on wifi and at one point today I had no connection even on wifi and had to switch wifi off then back on to get it back don’t know if this was a fluke or if this is something I will experience again anyone else have this?

I use to use an app called folder organizer is there any other newer apps that are recommended to make folders..it seems the sense folders wont let me put other things besides apps in them I like putting bookmarks etc..

Since the stock email wasn’t working I went back to what ive been using for years now and that’s k-9 email but for some reason im not getting it pushed as fast as I should I have my old phone set on wifi right next to it and im getting email right away on that and on the dna an extreme delay or I have to manually hit check mail

Also I noticed with the notification light it goes off after a bit..i googled this and it seems this might be a sense thing that they have done in the past like a 5 min rule? So im guess this is on this phone too?...anyway at all around this? If not extending the time or turning it off then some sort of thing that can be set as a reminder so if its stops after 5 min then eventfully it starts up again then goes off then starts again….

and any battery saving tips i havnt really gone through the settings yet or other settings that are suggested to change?

To save battery have a look at the sync options. There are quite a few which can be turned off if you don't need them. Also if you don't need wifi to be On continuously you can have it turn off when the phone sleeps. You could also try Juice Defender. I've used it for a long time on Gingerbread and it works well on the DNA/Jelly Bean.

Regarding the limitations/quirks of the Sense UI consider other launchers. I'm using Nova Launcher and really like it. It's fast, reliable and offers enough options for my taste. If you interested try the free version first (only slightly limited compared to paid version). I used Go Launcher EX on my previous phone. It worked very well on Gingerbread, but not as well on Jelly Bean. It has more options than Nova Launcher and is free, but you have to put up with the Go people pushing their $$ themes and other services.

I can't comment on your email and notification light questions, sorry.

AOL Email is terrible when it comes to using real mail protocols. I had the same issue with a client of mine and setting AOL up on their fax machine. Time to forward emails to gmail :)

As for battery saving tips, the usual. Screen down, run something like Deep Sleep Battery Saver, personally, I underclock with SetCPU. Stopping/Removing the un needed junk that comes with the phone should help too.

Enjoy the amazing screen!
I thought set cpu only works on a rooted phone.

Yeah, I'm having this problem too. It just started out of nowhere.

That problem and the fact that I can't DL my phonebook to my car's Bluetooth system without crashing the phone are annoying.

My DNA does the same thing, just for a split second it randomly disconnects WiFi connects to 4g then back to WiFi. It happens fast so I'm only disconnect from the internet for a second or 2 but it does get annoying. Now that I know its just not me, have we found the cuase of this? And how to correct it.

the wifi problem hasnt happened since i forgot all wifi and started from scratch with network connections

but have some other questions now

i was using Gsam to monitor battery usage and i notice big difference between there app usage list and the built in one look here

is this normal or is something wrong with either gsam or android, which should i trust or am i reading this wrong

another question is it better for battery life to use auto brightness or if i kept it at this level all the time?

speaking of battery life trying to figure out if my battery is doing good overall when i wake up i sit and check facebook, open 2 or 3 other apps go to a few sites and do some messaging within 35 min sometimes a min or 2 goes with the screen off in that time frame and i go down about 8-10 percent battery does this sound about right?

I had a problem with my AOL email. I tried to set it up as "AOL" in the email setup page. It took it but moments later it said "unable to connect with server" or some such crap. I deleted it an reinstalled it using "other email" as the option of choice in the email setup menu. Took it fine and all has been well ever since.

Hope this helps!

About the wireless dropping problem. I found out what was wrong in my case. It appears the Longevity app was the cause. Somehow using it to optimize my battery led to it dropping the connection when the phone went to sleep. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a setting to stop it from doing that, so I had to uninstall it. Once gone, my phone behaved as it should.

Juice Defender also switches off Wifi when the phone sleeps - that's one of the main ways to save power. It does a good job of reconnecting when the phone awakened, but there is also a setting to tell JD to not manage Wifi.
